Busch named MLS Goalkeeper of Year

Monday, 08 December 08, 03:16 PM

Jon Busch
Name: Jon Busch
Position: GK
Height: 5-10 Weight: 165
Birthdate: August 18, 1976
Hometown: Albany, NY
Last club: Columbus(MLS)
Marking the first of the 2002 Major League Soccer year-end awards. Major League Soccer announced today that the Chicago Fire Goalkeeper Jon Busch was voted the 2008 Panasonic Goalkeeper of the Year. I personal got the chance to see him in action on television on many occasions. With a second best 1.10 goal against average he deserves the title playing all 2700 minutes (30 matches). He also led the club to a second place finish in the Eastern Conference (13-10-7) and ranked first in the League in shutouts with 10. The ex Columbus player is at his peak at the age of 32 showing size doesnt matter in the goalie position. Plagued with injuries with the Columbus Crew, Busch was traded to Chicago before the 2007 season. He faced more shots than all but two MLS goalkeepers and recording the top save percent mark at 78.2 percent. San Jose's Joe Cannon ranked second with 74.7 percent.

Monday, 08 December 08, 02:20 PM

I has returned to inform all you Bloggers and MLS fans about the new team Seattle Sounders and their move into the future as they try to compete for the first time in MLS history. Here is the list of players the Sounders picked for the 2009 season which looks to be balanced on offence and defence. I see the same result for this team as what happened to San Jose but i could be wrong with this one.

1. Nate Jaqua (Houston Dynamo)
2. Nathan Sturgis (Real Salt Lake)
3. Jeff Parke (New York Red Bulls)
4. Jarrod Smith (Toronto FC)
5. Khano Smith (New England Revolution)
6. Peter Vagenas (Los Angeles Galaxy)
7. Tyson Wahl (Kansas City Wizards)
8. James Riley (San Jose Earthquakes)
9. Stephen King (Chicago Fire)
10. Brad Evans (Columbus Crew)

The four teams with no players selected were the Colorado Rapids, Chivas USA, D.C. United and FC Dallas. Seattle's 10 selections will officially be added to Seattle Sounders FC roster, which already includes Sebastien Le Toux, Kasey Keller, Freddie Llungberg and Sanna Nyassi, on Friday, Nov. 28
