The Spirit Is Back

Monday, 21 September 09, 02:59 AM

The slow ever lasting death of a Roma fan has been stopped at least for a couple of days until Wednesday night, while the fans were busy predicting how far can the loss reach there was an old man thinking , teaching installing a new mentality in 11 romans (adopted or born), the Roman coach new how to make them fight like the gladiators never did, a coach that stood up in front of Totti for the sake of Totti, someone that made me relieved for once in long period of time, as adrenaline rushed through my body the Romans succeeded in dictating the game.

They are back and no way you can contradict this, even Pit could have done well on tonight, Faty was doing well, Okaka improved his technique finally he was a CB at the attack dispersing their defenders and stealing balls forcing Frey into hard work, I loved Okakamuthafucka today, Totti was all over the area just like any other player, De Rossi finally got back to his Roma days, Perrotta = an adopted Roman just like all tuscans we have, even Sergio did awesome and I'm starting to think that Brazilians do have great keepers besides Julio Cesar, and to end it all Ranieri had hushed and silenced every single wanker in the media, Palermo's KJ finally shuts up but on wednesday it'll be forever. now we sing.

Rosella Sensi bla bla bla Rosella Sensi bla bla bla Rosella Sensi Sensi Sensi bla bla blaa.

Talent scout: I come knocking on the doors of Roma, take a look at Michael Agazzi

Tuesday, 15 September 09, 11:41 AM

I am watching Sassuolo - Triestina right now, i was hoping to find more answers about Serie B talent and i did, regardless that Brosco is a hot-prospect teenager in Serie B, its the sixth game in the season for Triestina and they are yet to concede a goal, I am watching their games its not down to their defense, the defense is great, but what attracted my attention unexplored goal keeper Michael Agazzi, he's Italian, has the years ahead of him and has plenty of passion and talent to insert into the game. Its not wonder that such a wondrous player is the product of Atalanta's youth club, but how could they have sold out on him that early? Its his second season running with Triestina after returning from a two-year out on loan stint at Sassuolo and Foggia respectively. I think I can say I have seen plenty of him and I can give my veiw, the keeper is nothing less than a serie a calibre. As I heard Cagliari now own the player, but due to Marchetti's presence he can enjoy being loaned out, what's interesting is that one of the six clean sheets was beating Cagliari in the Copa Italia.

For once, let us all hope that Daniele Prade thinks that Italian goal keepers do exist, taking a look at the roma roster in between the posts:

Doni, Curci, Lobont, Sergio, Artur, Frasca and Pena.

Doni is the starter but he spends too much time out that makes one think of getting a really decent enough sub. Curci has now sky-high pride and after playing two seasons at Siena he will not comeback unless he is a starter. Artur's display has always been poor, and now its become worse to a degree that we all now that he has played his last Roma game, Julio Sergio is 30 now, he is inexperienced and for him to gain experience it will take him till the age of 36 or so and he is not a first sub material. Lobont is here on loan, and I'm 100% positive that he won't stay for next season because of lack of playing time. frasca and Pena need to mature first. That leaves us with no decent sub-keeper, and my answer is just think of michael Agazzi and then maybe signing him and removing a couple of Brazilians (Sergio and Artur) and a Romanian (Lobont) would do fine for the wages. Doni, Agazzi, Frasca, Pena.

Europa League: I love Belgium

Friday, 07 August 09, 02:36 PM

10 - 2 on aggregate the score speaks for itself, record breaking games for Roma in terms of aggregate score, Totti scored in two games more than he ever scored Euro goals in a whole season, five so far, more to come. Mark Spal's words on the game:

“Totti is that player. He has quality, those moments that can change a match from free kicks or open play. He is phenomenal. Clearly we were aided by the fact Gent had a man sent off before half-time, but this time the team went out on form and concentrated. I’m convinced that, regardless of lucky incidents, we still would’ve taken home the win.

“The important thing was to go through,” insisted the captain. “It was not an easy game and they were very motivated. Now we can go all the way in this competition, even if there is a long road ahead of us.”
Menez scores for Roma, yes it was hard to believe but I kept convincing hundreds of my Roma friends that he can score and he did, we all know last season he sucked and scored four goals, two of them were in the last two games, thus meaning his last three game he scored three goals and this is Menez we are talking about. Okaka broke out of his contract agreement with Roma and scored, though the agreement says: Okaka's shots are not to be converted in goals, he went legally and scored a header. De Rossi showed Vice-Captain displays and scored two. God only knows what happens now... Dani boy oh Dani boy, we have yet another easy game probably, Kosice, the Slovakian Cup Winners, ended fourth in their league last season, not a reason to worry us, they're team is full of natives except for four, the keeper a Croatian and three other Serbs, one of them is Matic, who could do the damage to big clubs like us, but infortunately "The Italian Job" was finished by Giovinco, when he tripped The Serbian U-21 international and broke his right foot that needed surgery. One big threat has been removed, another is that we have to think of resting our players three days after the first leg and the second we have to kick off the League with Genoa (away) and Juventus (home) respectively. Arghh I say cheer up people, we are on a good start

Forza Roma

A bit of transfer talkies

Sunday, 02 August 09, 07:03 AM

You complain and you complain, no signings and the only one came for free Stefano Guberti. so what? We need a goal keeper, centre-back and a striker.

Though I'm a fan of Artur Moraes yet he doesn't seem to be staying anywhere near us, things should be sorted out by Tuesday as he might join Livorno and either Flavio Roma or Stefano Sorrentino could be the solution. Alex Daniel Pena and Valerio Frasca have nothing to do here but to be loaned out because that useless training cone (Julio Sergio) seems staying.

At defence there is a slight update that Diego Lugano could make his way to Roma, but I was wondering if negotiations are stalling because of wages why can't we offer Marco Cassetti and Max Tonetto to some mid-tabled teams in Serie A, that would free some Wage capacity, wouldn't it? How about taking Ahmed Barusso, Valerio Virga, Adrian Pit, Claudio Della Penna, Kevain Zarineh, Andrea Giacomini, Massimiliano Marsili and Mauro Esposito out too, despite having low wages we could use the maximum help possible and we know they ain't gonna play at all.

Moving to our last missing spot, Alvaro Negredo, he is the utmost solution to our team, he is all that we need pretty low wages, high class, relatively young and the problem is that we want him on loan and Real Madrid are looking to sell him rather than that.

Why can't this be a solution to our problem, maybe after all, King Alberto can stay at Roma and we will not have to sacrifice a star.

July 2009 Roma Awards

Saturday, 01 August 09, 05:20 AM

The first month of the new season had ended and five games have been played, this is enough for me to start my monthly awards for the new season.

Goal Keeping: Artur. Arghhh! It can't be, yes it can he and Julio Sergio are the only two that featured so better get used to this until Gifts comes back.

Defence: 100 % not Mexes he played as a trequartista or let us say a pure striker. Riise played out of position didn't do well, Spaghetti didn't trust Andreolli at CB, Antunes played a bit, Tonetto and Cassetti pure suckiness, Cicinho and Juan are injured that leaves one and only one person: Marco Motta.

Midfield: A lot of names featured but it is hard not to pay your tribute to Play Station boy Stefano Guberti. De Rossi didn't feature in the start of the season because he was on international break. Greco was the top goal scorer before Totti scored the dubietta against KAA Gent.

Attack: Okaka has a contract that doesn't allow him to score, Baptista and Menez earned international injury, Vucinic featured less frequently, Cerci stunned but no goals, Zarineh and Della Penna nothing at all, Esposito a little fat bitch, anyway we all know our best Attacker is the legend Francesco Totti

Transfer: Stefano Guberti, he won it as he was the only.

Departure: Simone Loria, worthless player at Roma, debute-scorer at new club Torino, yet he did not win it, of the players that have left so far, Edgar Anthony Reyes Alvarez "Burritos" won it, he fetched a 1.5m Euros from his sale, despite not playing for Roma since 2006 or so.

Injury: Juan Silveira Dos Santos, a blessing in disguise, had he not been injured he would be playing for Real Madrid by now.

Game: The 9 - 0 win against Brunico.

Goal: Mirko Vucinic, the one against KAA Gent its for his sister.

When eternal life meets some Belgian malarkey

Wednesday, 29 July 09, 01:58 PM

Tomorrow night will be the kicker day, to prove our critics wrong against, the only god knows who, Belgian side,I will not take a piece of talk about their team, I simply say, I don't know much about them except they have never won their own league and last season they finished fourth so this should be no cause of concern especially if they have lost their star player in this transfer mercato. Same stuff, same shit, Aquilani, Cicinho, Juan, Doni, Perrotta and Menez have been injured and are still well add Baptista to that. Can't say much can I? It seems awkward to see the called players Faty? I do like him but I mean that French oak tree? anyway all that matters mirkodona and the nerd made it, I mean Vucinic and Brighi.
Goal Keepers: Artur, Sergio, Pena
Defenders: Andreolli, Antunes, Cassetti, Mexes, Motta, Riise, Tonetto
Midfielders: Brighi, De Rossi, Faty, Guberti, Pizarro, Taddei
Attack: Cerci, Esposito, Okaka, Totti, Vucinic
Players in bold are highly likely to play. Players in italic do have the chance
The official view: I - We would start from goal keepers, why the hell ain't there no Italian? not even Frasca? I am not going to worry because soon enough Pena will be loaned out.
II - Youth, take a look at the defence for example: Itunes, Andreolli and Motta and in midfield Faty with the Roman duo Cerci and OKaka up front. Kinda liking it.
III - Tonetto or Itunes, there is a point for both but I'd prefer red-head to play than the old guy.
IV - Spalletti its 4-4-2 not 4-2-4 look at how many attackers are playing and how many midfielders are, so I think a tactician once learned how to count.
V - De Rossi and Totti are in so I'm happy
Brighi scored
My prediction goes as follows it is in the olimpico so I doubt there would be any obstacles to hinder us
Roma 5 - 0 KAA Gent
Totti (12)
Guberti (38)
Totti (42)
Vucinic (63)
Okaka (87)
Daje Roma Daje

Youth Stars Loaned Out To Gain Experience

Monday, 27 July 09, 08:05 AM

Things are starting to seem more visible and we are having a better view of our team for this season, as the extra players that are still teenagers have been offloaded temporarily of course we could not afford to play them or lose them for the future, each joined a minnow team during their way to seek stars. Leonardo Greco, the pre-season star, will most probably leave to join either Ascoli or Cosenza on loan, regardless if Cosenza landed Greco or not they will loan Valerio Virga too, a player I would much prefer to sell rather than loan out, as he has no future considering he is 23-years-old and has not shown any glimpses of talent. Moreover, Roma and Isola Liri (please don't ask who this club is because I have no idea) have reached an agreement over Romanian goal keeper Pena, and the two strikers Bianchini and Falco also on loan. D'Alessndro already joined Grosetto and Crotone reached an agreement for full-back Crescenzi. More talk has been made but the deal is not concrete Barusso could be loaned to Brescia but at the age of 25 I have no Idea why we haven't sold him yet. The captain of the Roma youth team Riccardo Brosco has reached an agreement with Triestina to join. However, Aleandro Rosi refused to leave for Livorno as he and Spalletti think that he will be vital for the club next season.

Excruzive: Rafa A Man of Honour

Saturday, 25 July 09, 04:46 PM

For a moment I thought I will not fall for the Mercato again, and claim one of my night posts to it but here I am, its bloody 1:00 AM, I'm still awake for no reason, maybe its because a promised my friend to finish the book he gave me to read, he wrote it and he's a great writer, back to romality I mean reality, Today is a significant day, no more worries about Aquilani, Mexes, Juan, Riise, Vucinic, Brighi, Baptista, Menez and De Rossi leaving, everything seems to have settled for now, and the players that are of no importance and represent dead weight might see a way out of Roma, a good thing most probably. Ahmed Barusso and Mauro Esposito players that have no future by staying at Roma are close to switching teams with Brescia and Bari respectively nearly signing them, all is needed is the icing on the cake.

Roma have also made another signing this mercato concerning the medical staff that we deeply need, last season we suffered many injury blows and the only players that didn't suffer injuries were unfortunately Simone Loria and Julio Sergio (players we all wish they never existed). Doctor Zepilli is a former national team member, he was on the Italy medical staff in the World Cup 2006. I hope he does us some good luck.

Prof. Paul Zeppilli

The most important part of this post is yet to be reached, Totti is a true leader in fact I can't say but this legend is a Roman god. He said that he had the chance to leave Roma and win the Balon D'or but his heart wanted to stay at Roma, and he has full respects to the current Roma owner Rosella Sensi and has extended his Roma contract up to 2019, yes no one would dare go so far, but he does, he would hang up his boots in any time he wants most probably 2014 and then enjoy the rest of the contract as a Roma staff member.

Now the transfer news here comes, I have had enough with the Andriy Voronin stuff about joining Roma and Aquilani going in the other direction as Liverpool boss, Rafa Benitez, blocked the chance of signing Aquilani stating that he will do everything possible to kep Xabi Alonso at the Reds. We have also moved quickly and a step further to the signature of Inter hitman Julio Cruz, I don't know what could a man at the age of 34 offer, but a guy like Julio definitely didn't die just yet, he has to offer a bit more and I am convinced that as much as he sucked, he'll do better than Esposito will do. Maybe this sounded somehow a good transfer rumour day.

Roma 3 - 0 Ceahlaul

Friday, 24 July 09, 06:22 AM

It was a busy day yesterday for me, I had to keep up with our Europa League opponents and KAA Gent won their game 1 - 0 and qualyfied to meet us in the third round. I also watched Motherwell play and they did well too, its a family tradition to follow them. Enough talk about Europa League and back to the Roma friendly, Artur seems to be going fine, he did not concede in yesterday's game, I don't know how but the guy is doing some good progress. The game ended in a 3 - 0 easy Roma win Mexes scored the first, Taddei scored his third for Roma this season, and finally Greco got the third and his fourth for the season, he is now the top goal scorer for our pre-season, yet I doubt he will feature this season anywhere except for a sub appearance in coppa game at the 90th minute. I would love to keep him though and get rid of useless Esposito, another guy who has some goals this pre-season. Taddei is doing fine, I think he cemented his place in our new formation, at least for the time being. Our Belgian opponents finished fourth in their league last season, they have never won their league, so I guess it should be an easy game for us.

Before I end this post, a miracle happened, Simone Loria the floppiest player in the history has scored a goal for Torino in their pre-season game, I laughed at this site, did he suck on purpose while at Roma?

Official: D'Alessandro out on loan, Cruz close to sign

Thursday, 23 July 09, 09:58 AM

Roma have finally started doing some business, real stuff, for the first time I think Prade is not out of his mind. Marco D'Alessandro the teenage starlet has been shipped out on loan to grosseto for a season-long loan to gain enough experience to come back and take over Taddei's position in a couple of years. He is not the only young power to leave on loan Alessandro Crescenzi is set to join Crotone in the next couple of hours or a maximum of a day, due to Roma having many full backs on board. The transfer out targerts seem to be less worrying now, Aquilani, Brighi, Vucinic, Mexes, Juan, De Rossi and Riise all are gone for now and a new wave has emerged. Cruz, free agent since June, could be well on his way to join us after an agreement with the club over a one year deal that could be extended to another. Another Inter man is Nicolas Burdisso tipped to join as a sub for Mexes and Juan in Mexy's red cards and Juan's broken legs we do need someone to help Andreolli. The last Rumour here comes is that when Barcelona sign Kierrison, he would join Roma on loan at least according to papers. Moreover, Andreolli is set to stay at least until Roma find a CB.

At the end of the post, I would like to say happy birthdat to Alessio Cerci who turns 22 and hope for him to score in Roma's game today.

Pre-season looking good

Tuesday, 21 July 09, 03:12 AM

Pre-season started early for Roma and many players were absent from the squad yet the team had enough players to win the Tropheo Citta Di Bolzano, A 9 - 0 win and a 1-1 finally beating Blackburn 5 - 4 were enough to win a friendly tournament this season, with Roma waiting for their opponents in round three, the international stars have returned: Juan, Baptista and De Rossi from the confederations Cup, Marco Motta, Alessio Cerci, Stefano Okaka Chuka and Marco Andreolli from the U-21 tournament. The Whole squad is here but Doni, Cicinho, Perrotta and Aquilani are still injured so far only Aquilani might return to play the opening game of the season. The Legend, Tomassi, has returned to Roma only for pre-season to help the team and give the maximum aid he can. The team so far should not change a lot but this is it:

Goal Keepers: Doni, Artur, Sergio

Defenders: Cicinho, Motta, Cassetti, Riise, Tonetto, Antunes, Rosi, Mexes, Juan, Andreolli

Midfielders: De Rossi, Aquilani, Brighi, Perrotta, Taddei, Guberti, Pizarro, Faty, Barusso, Greco, Pit

Forwards: Totti, Vucinic, Baptista, Menez, Cerci, Okaka, Esposito

Youth players: Frasca, Pena, Brosco, Crescenzi, Malomo, Bertolacci, D'Alessandro, Stoian.

A total of 31 players there are some places that have way too much players and considering the team needs a CB, these players should leave: Cassetti, Tonetto, Pit and Esposito this should make enough money to sponsor the signing of Luccini from Sampdoria and free enough wages to sign free agent Julio Cruz.

Before I end this post here is a picture of the new Mexes look

Roma - Blackburn Friendly preview

Wednesday, 15 July 09, 06:29 AM

A real friendly in a worthless pre-season, it was filled with injuries, perrotta going thigh strained for a damned two months, with aquilani, doni, cicinho and Juan already injured and Andreolli, Motta, De Rossi, Baptista and okaka taking vacations, it leaves us with worthless players and everything goes sucky as menez goes injured with cerci. Vieri should make an unofficial debute for Blackburn against us, maybe it would do a great test for our defence as it solidifies. All players are expected to play but the question is that who would start and who would sub. I took my time to think of a good formation that fits in the spalletti's dear 4-2-4, and ended up with this:

Artur on goal, second half Sergio sucks in

the four-man defence should be easy to pick as it is available right here with Motta and Tonetto playing as RB and LB respectively Mexes and Riise will play in centre. Cassetti and Antunes should come one for Motta and Tonetto, with Brosco pobably taking a CB position and either Mexy or Ginger stays on field.

The two midfielders are picked automatically the only available: Brighi and Pizarro should be substituted by Faty and Barusso without any problem.]

In attack the four to be chosen are an easy pick to with Guberti and Taddei taking opposite wings, Totti and Vucinic will sneak in attack, later Rosi and  D'Alessandro would take the wing positions if Ceci was unable to recover in time, greco will have to search for a player to play with him up front. That player is accidently called Mauro Esposito. The result should be really not predicted no one knows what Spalletti is planning to do win or lose, its up to him.

Cerci, Andreolli and Okaka have said that their desire is to remain at Roma and they are currently not thinking about leaving to any club.

Roma 3 - 1 Blackburn

Totti                  Vieri

Guberti

Faty

We Will Miss You L'Aeroplanino

Sunday, 05 July 09, 10:37 AM

He finally enjoys a deserved rest after all those years of commitment to Roma, Fulham, Sampdoria, Genoa and Empoli, Vincenzo Montella retires, the best to ever wear the number 9 Roma shirt, TOP GUN. I don't think Roma fans will not adore such a player that has scored four goals in a single Roma victory over Lazio as we beat them 5 - 1, Montella L'Aeroplanino I love you.

Official: Loria joins Torino and Montella retires

Friday, 03 July 09, 12:15 PM

Here it is this day must have made the mercato for Roma, the loaning out of Loria to Torino was a must an unfit player, way below Roma's calibre, maybe Serie B would serve him good, this is a relief now. Another old player to haveleft Roma is Christian Panucci his contract has officially ended with Roma and is now seeking a place at either Genoa or Parma. Roma didn't end their quest for a younger team there, Montella was convinced to retire from football and accept a job of coaching the Roma youth squad, hopefully he'll do future stars just like him, loyal and successful. Diamoutene is the last of the players who left Roma and his loan from Lecce ended.

The Roma full squad for next season has been announced there might be some changes but most player who have been linked out said they are wanted but will stay at Roma.

GK: Doni, Artur, Sergio

DF: Cicinho, Motta, Cassetti, Mexes, Juan, Andreolli, Riise, Tonetto, Rosi, Antunes

MF: De Rossi, Aquilani, Brighi, Perrotta, Guberti, Taddei, Pizarro, Faty, Greco, Pit

FW: Totti, Vucinic, Baptista, Menez, Okaka, Cerci, Esposito

A total squad of 30 players that might be reduced to a minimum of 24 in order to have the largest number of player to compete at a major level in all competition.

Expected squad depth: a typical spalletti 4-2-3-1 formation

Doni

Cicinho, Mexes, Juan, Riise

De Rossi, Brighi

Guberti, Aquilani, Vucinic

Totti

subs squad:

Artur

Motta, Cassetti, Andreolli, Tonetto

Pizarro, Perrotta,

Taddei, Baptista, Menez

Okaka

reserves and youth squad:

Sergio

Crescenzi, Malomo, Brosco, Antunes

Faty Greco

D'Alessandro Esposito Rosi

Cerci

as well as Frasca, Bertolacci and Stoian might feature from the youth teams

Roma's squad to the ritiro in Riscone di Brunico

Tuesday, 30 June 09, 01:28 AM

soon, our squad will leave to Riscone Di Brunico for the first pre-season ritiro as expected all players available will attend, the excluded players are:

Alexander Doni, Joao Cicinho, Alberto Aquilani due to injury, De Rossi, Andreolli, Cerci, Motta and Baptista due national duties they deserve some rest and finally Juan because of both injury and national duty. Filipe is not on that list because Arfaestnes, a friend of mine, reported that his Roma contract has not been extended and same for Panucci, whom we will all miss at Roma. Rosi is another notable absence from that list rumours say we lost him to Livorno, I only hope its not permanent. Primavera goal keeper Frasca and primavera captain Brosco are in doubt of joining, Okaka seems to be enjoying his vacation and is not ready to return, the full list is:

Goal Keepers: Artur, Julio Sergio, Pena

missing: Doni

Defenders: Cassetti, Mexes, Riise, Tonetto, Loria, Antunes, Crescenzi

missing: Cicinho, Andreolli, Motta, Juan and Brosco

midfielders: Guberti, Brighi, Perrotta, Pizarro, Taddei, Faty, Greco, Bertolacci, D'Alessandro, Pit

missing: Aquilani, Baptista

Attack: Totti, Vucinic, Menez, Montella, Esposito

missing: Cerci, Okaka

The magic kid is on the squad, we just hope the missing players return and I'm happy with the squad, if this is it for next season, I'm more than happy if it so with the missing stars returning I wouldn't mind keeping Loria if we have this much defenders this means only one thing he ain't playing. This ritiro is from July 2 till July 17, the squad had already gathered at trigoria yesterday and had a meeting, maybe and hopefully all will be available for the second

thanks to the source Arfaestnes

Official: Aquismaia joins Nejmeh Sporting Club

Saturday, 27 June 09, 01:24 PM

Speculation and more speculation, its the transfer season, don't get carried away this is not Roma's transfer talk I'm talking about, its an official signing but not for Roma, for Nejmeh Sporting Club, you might wonder why I'm posting such a thing and not in its place, its Roma talk here but if you read the URL it says, Aquismaia's official blog, and I am the Nejmeh signing as of today,
The move seemed shaky and I didn't expect to be here, where I am today after a lot of matters getting complicated. I have been keen on a such a move ever since last year but I never thought it would materialize. The thought got off my mind for a long time, until 12 June when a Besiktas trial was on the cards and I seemed imminent to join but suddenly the whole matter failed to get concrete and I seemed closer to Nejmeh than ever.
I will get to play the last game for my current club and thank them for all they did for me and for being the first people to believe in my talent, they gave me the green light to join Nejmeh and I am grateful to them.
Today, I secured the Nejmeh deal after I went to the club's headquarters at the Rawche in Beirut, its a beautiful area, a coastal one. I will start my training by July sixth, Monday.
I would really like to thank some of my friends that motivated me, they are fans of Roma just like me at "The Offside" that have stood for me and I hope I can replace Doni at Roma and go for the best they can ever have: mac, Evaldo, Jacob (Europa league), Bashar, Peci, Marcus, Matt, Mauro, Justin, Rahul, Daniel, Alibet, Uncle Fester, romabaha, Sneakers O'Toole, Gabriella, Slim, Jed, Fadayn, Apuzzo, Stefano, DonMichele, Caroe, Gio, aristeia, Kurdt, Julian and finally to the best of all Chris. Special thanks also goes to Juve's Alessio and Inter's Johonna.

I love you all, Sary Aquismaia Arab
