Life could be worse...I could have been a Tottenham supporter!

Tuesday, 03 June 08, 04:47 AM

I find it somewhat disturbing how these so-called Arsenal supporters want to burn Arsene Wenger at the stake for not buying any players yet.... and this was the 1st of June! Now I'm not exactly sure of the date the window closes but I'm quite sure there's at least a couple of months before we should be sending AW and the board to the firing squad.

Now, if I were an astute businessman I dear say I wouldn't have the time to be reading half the rubbish thats been plastered on these blogs and dare I say, I also wouldn't be worrying about  whats going on at Arsenal at the moment because from the outside it seems as though these guys that are doing whats best for the club that is AFC. Of course we want trophies, but to risk a possible/probable takeover by buying "name" players is something that AW just won't do. We haven't won anything in 3 years; so bloody what! The eighties weren't that fantastic for us either, the nineties were a bit better but now we're supposed to win every year....I don't think so kids. Imagine if Usamov were in charge. No more Wenger for sure! Look at the Chavs, Champions League finalist and out goes Grant after 8 months as manager. Didn't they win back to back titles in 05 and 06 before they sacked Jose last year?

I suppose I could go on  and on but I think you get what I'm trying to say.

Most of us have played football at one point, whether its Sunday park stuff or better. One thing that I know for sure is  that, if a team doesn't  have confidence in the captain (who is usually there best player)  the captain starts doubting himself and usually tries to do too much and fails. I'm happy to have AW captaining my club, I have confidence in his ability and I want him to lead my team that is AFC.

The trophies will come to those who wait.

Life could be worse...I could have been a Tottenham supporter!

Thank god for the distraction of Euro!

Another season full of promise has come and gone and yes another trophy less season for the mighty Gunners.

Positives?..... plenty.

Negatives? .... plenty.

The positives; well slowly but surely the potential that AW has been talking about over the last few years is starting to surface. Theo, Clichy, Ade, Sagna have all pretty much put their hands up to say "I'm here to stay, this is my position and I want to win". And what do say about Cesc? The kids a freak, and hopefully (just like Dennis) they'll be singing for years to come... "We've got Cesc Fabregas! ...We've got Cesc Fabregas!"
We saw some beautiful football this season, sometimes to no avail, yet there was something missing which I just can't put my finger on. A killer instinct? Disharmony in the dressing sheds? Immaturity? Some say the psychological blow of the Eduardo injury? Was it because of all our injuries? Not enough depth? We can keep going and going. The fact is, we've gone another year without any silverware and it hurts, fuck it hurts.

The negatives; the fact that because we haven't won anything, we start believing the press and these so-called 'pundits' . In just about every Arsenal blog there's questions being raised; "is Gallas the right man for the captaincy?" "Is AW the right man for the job?" "Why doesn't AW spend more money to get experienced players?" "How can players like Flamini and Hleb leave so easily? or more to the point why wouldn't they want to stay?....after all this is Arsenal."

I think what I'm trying to say (in my first blog) is that, we are lucky enough to support what I think is the finest football club on the planet. This club has decided, that it's not going to 'sell out' like the majority of the Premiership are doing (primarily Liverpool, Chelski, and Manure), but are competing (and we are very much competing, on all fronts) to uphold over a century of tradition. Whether or not it's the right decision, we won't know for a year or two maybe. What I do know is that me, little Arse'ole' from Sydney, Australia who's been an Arsenal fan all his life (and always will be), likes the fact that my football club has made a 'ballsy' decision. It's hard I know, we're coming so bloody close (yet so far), but we've got to get behind this team. Wenger's doing it. Why can't we when the chips are down?

We've got Wenger: we should feel blessed. Gallas, yes he's a fucking nutter but he wears his heart on his sleeve, fucking oath I want him as captain. We've got, Cesc, clichy, Sagna, Toure, RVP (yeh I know), Ade. All these guys would be welcomed with open arms into just about any team in the world and we've got them!

Our time will come again, until then we have to go through the prolonged torture of the European summer with the 1.2 million players we're linked with, and of course the 1.1million times cesc has to tell Real and Barca that he's not going anywhere!

Thank god for the distraction of Euro 2008!

Stay cool Arse'ole's.

Did any anyone read Jimmy Greaves' piece in the Sun?................Wanker.
