Atlante Post-Match Analysis: all hail Nigel Reo-Coker

Friday, 31 July 09, 06:24 AM

Well, well, well, twenty or so minutes into the game with Villa a goal down and our captain and player of the season stretchered off and our manager sent to the stands, all hope seemed to be lost for the coming season. Curtis Davies put the ball into his own net and was having an absolute nightmare of a game, Sidwell was his anonymous self and Heskey and Shorey were contributing nothing to proceedings. However, by the end of the game Villa had won 3-1 and progressed to...

Knight exit to kick off more transfers?

Monday, 27 July 09, 07:08 AM

Big Zat was one of those players that never really did much wrong but
was never fully embraced as a Villa player, I thought he was a pretty
good player but prone to lapses of concentration - as a Villa fan I
think he always gave 100% for the club and I wish him the very best of
luck at Bolton.

I am shocked thought that we've lost another player before signing a
replacement, now this has to mean O'Neill has so many deals on...Read Post »

The Peace Cup Squad (thoughts and opinions this way!!)

Friday, 24 July 09, 09:02 AM

Last night Villa announced their squad for the apparently prestigious Peace Cup tournament in Spain.

The squad is as follows: Friedal, Guzan, Parish, Albrighton, Bannan, Carew, Clark, Cuellar, Davies, Harewood, Herd, Heskey, Knight, Lichaj, Lowry, Osbourne, Petrov, Reo-Coker, Salifou, Shorey, Sidwell, A. Young, L. Young, Hogg, Bouma, Weimann.

Now don't get me wrong O'Neill has pretty much included everyone he could but there are a couple of...

Aston Villa Want £38m Tottenham Quartet; Portsmouth Veteran and Everyone Else But End Up with Downing!

Wednesday, 22 July 09, 09:21 AM

Tidal Wave of Transfers Never Happened

Most thought that Downing would usher in a flood of much needed transfer activity at Villa Park, the reality is almost all speculation since has been killed stone dead.

The question most will rightly ask is when we are crying out for a central midfielder and a centre back, do we sign a left winger? Ok so I thought Downing would be moulded into a more central midfield figure ala Barry - but MON has refuted...Read Post »

Posh Match Analysis and Ratings: the return of Isaiah Osbourne!

Monday, 20 July 09, 08:02 AM

Alan Shearer's gormless expression as he paced up and down the touchline of the Trinity Road Stand seems a distant memory in my mind, as we set off for our first pre-season friendly of the summer against Peterborough. Any villa fan who has followed our transfer activity this summer will understand that it has been a long summer. But, alas in the week leading up to the game with Posh we made our first signing, so welcome Mr Downing, however, an injury sustained against us means he is...Read Post »
