A Leeds perspective on David O'Leary

Wednesday, 02 November 05, 09:16 AM · Comments (0)

When he took over from George Graham as caretaker he did a good enough job but none of us expected him to get the post full time but when he started saying the right things we fell in line.

When he started spending the cash we all loved him and the Champs League run meant he could do no wrong.

Soon though, like he's doing at Villa right now (we're all watching it up here), he will turn on his players and you'll start to hear the same things too many times and the right things been said too often.

He lost the dressing room at Leeds well before he got the sack but Rid$dale didn't know what to do because with him he was completely different to what he was been told.

Villa better watch him very close because before you know it he would have destroyed the very core of the whole club.

We're three years away from the Premiership now and it's down to O'Leary. We lost most of our backroom staff, the academy was destroyed by him and people left because they couldn't work with him.

His record was okay but so would mine have been with all the cash he had. Looking back at it we all know we should have won something with that amount of cash and we should still be in the Prem playing in Europe but at the time you don't see these things until after and we didn't have anyone to warn us about him like I'm warning you now.

Would we have him back to Leeds? Yes. We'll string him up for destroying our club. Best of luck and maybe next season we'll see you at Elland Road.

Thanks to Pete for sending this in.

He is a lifelong Leeds fan now living in Scotland. He goes to every home match and the occasional away match. He doesn't like David O'Leary.
