A look ahead to Chelsea of Chelsea at Chelsea

Wednesday, 27 September 06, 10:40 AM · Comments (2)

Let's get one thing straight, we are not going to be another Chelsea. In Randy Lerner we've not got an owner who will throw money at the squad to buy success and quite honestly I'm very pleased that's the case.

I had a debate with a Chelsea fan a few weeks ago that lasted all of about six minutes and the one thing we both agreed upon was if it meant success then we'd both accept it but neither of us were that happy that the game has gone in this direction.

I'm happy that we've got a new owner and I'm happy that we've got a great manager who knows how to get the best out of players. I'm also happy that we're travelling to Chelsea with such confidence and that Chelsea are playing European football tonight.

Chelsea playing European football isn't a massive factor but it will still help us. Chelsea could field a second string team and still get a victory it's just that Mourinho won't do that and some will play both games; a certain advantage for us as Mourinho needs to win the Champions League this season or he could well be the next manager to leave Chelsea.

My only real concern going into the match this weekend is new striker Andriy Shevchenko and his lack of goals this season.

It's only a matter of time before Chelsea find the right type of service to him and when that happens he will start scoring. The thing is, if it doesn't happen this season Chelsea have wasted ?30,000,000.00 because he was 30 years old yesterday and I suspect he is past his peak, in fact I know it.

News ahead of the game for Villa is we should be able to field an unchanged side should the manager think that his best option.

Milan Baros played for the reserves this week and bagged another brace and every time he scores he is reminding the manager that he should be given a chance from the start. The problem for Baros is I don't think O'Neill is the type of manager to make changes until they are necessary.

We've had a few emails in about this match and some are worried but as far as I'm concerned any result is a good result as we shouldn't forget who we are playing. I'm not thinking we are going to get beat however and think we can get something out of this game but I reckon I'm the only one.

Expext are offering 11/1 on an Aston Villa win and 17/4 for the draw. These are good odds especially when you consider we're on a run and the pressure has to be n Chelsea.

I'm not going to be so bold and say we'll win this match but I'm predicting a 1-1 draw. The Randylution has begun and I don't think Chelski can roll us over.
