It's been a bit of a boring weekend for any football news, let alone Villa news. However, I've found a few bits to round up to ease your boredom on this front.
Bruno Alves' agent has said that we've been tracking his player, as exclusively told to you by us back in May but he's keen to stay with Porto and play in the Champions League. Fair enough, it shouldn't be too long until MON can offer that to players.
Apparently Shaun Wright Phillips can leave Chelsea for £10m and we're one of the clubs that are linked with him. No surprises there, or substance for that matter...
Sorenson has come out and rubbished reports about us being linked with Jussi Jääskeläinen. He reckons MON would be in the market for a backup only, although I'm pretty sure he's after a number 1. Again, there's nothing to say Jääskeläinen is going to leave Bolton, he's just not going to be there once his contract expires at the end of the 07/08 season.
I wouldn't mind him at Villa because he's been outstanding for Bolton since they signed him around 10 years ago. At 32 he's still got plenty of years left in him so maybe it's worth a go.
Someone we should sign is this MLS player Juan Pablo Angel. He's scored 9 goals in 7 games now, including various assists, which is an MLS record. I think Angel's quote about his first goal tells you all you need to know about the standard of the MLS: "I don't even remember. I just remember that I headed the ball, and then everybody was shouting, 'Goal!' I didn't even see it."
Apparently Spurs are not going in for Sneijder and Koumas is going to cost £5.5m. Again, nothing really to substantiate any transfer of these players although Koumas said we were interested in him. And unless we don't get any of our other midfield targets I don't see that changing from interest to a bid.
Right, I think that's it. A bit more than I originally thought but it saves you the hassle of reading several websites' worth of rubbish. Let's hope for something of interest next week, but for now I'll be turning my attention to the cricket...

Be nice to MLS. What kind of standard do you expect? It does well enough in a country where few people like the sport.
The MLS is a league in development although the dig was probably a tad harsh. It's getting stronger and with players like Beckham and Angel going over there it will increase the growth and popularity of the league immensely.
I think in my lifetime it's likely that USA will become a major force in international football/soccer as the sport grows in that country. It's inevitable with a developed country that size. As long as they don't do things like we do...
As for Scott Sinclair, I've heard about him a few times - I'm a bit of a Ian Holloway fan so been reading the BBC column.
If you think he's good enough then someone should let MON know! I doubt he'll make it at Chelsea as they don't really have a great youth policy, but it'll be a good education and provide somebody else with a great player.
Scott sincair would be a good siging. He's got some talent and will deffinately beneft and develop into a better player through the Villa. Look at James Milner, we made him good again and revivde his career at newcastle, but in the end he would rather play for a smaller club!
