Angel's summer Arsenal transfer revelation

Monday, 19 March 07, 02:17 PM · Comments (6)

Apologies for the Sun-esque headline but you know I love a cliche.

Juan Pablo Angel today revealed he was set for a move to Arsenal in the summer but the move broke down because the two clubs couldn't agree a transfer fee.

Don't worry Arsenal fans, I'm as bamboozled as you at that one. Don't get me wrong, Angel isn't a bad player and always gives 100% but he appears to sometimes be 'lost' on the pitch.

Many Villa fans will know that Angel can score a good goal or two, but his career appears to have nosedived and I'm not sure whether that's him or whether that's to do with the lack of creativity in our midfield.

We haven't got enough good balls being created by the midfield or another striker that compliments him, although Carew or Young might be suitable but why not play them together instead of with Angel?

It's more than a rumour or I wouldn't have written it, but I wonder now whether the potential move might be back on the cards come the summer. I hope so.

Angel will score goals if he moves to Arsenal as their style of play and the fact there is no pressure on him to be the main attacking threat will allow him to go and play for the fun of it.If he does move in the summer i wish him all the best as he as given all he can to the villa

Angel said he was close to moving to Arsenal last season, which makes me guess Arsenal were trying to buy him in the january transfer window of last season, not last summer. This would make more sense as he would have been eligible for the champions league for the rest of that season, while the striker Arsenal ended up buying during the transfer window, Adebayor, was not. I doubt Arsenal would be interested now though as they have more than enough strikers.

Might have been a squad player there, no more than that.

It would be the best for him if he went to arsenal, he done his best for the Villa, which was not much at all realy for the money we paid for him.

Biggest load of b******s i've ever heard. He would get in the Blues team so why would Arsenal want him? Worst signing in the clubs history, cant wait to see the back of him
