Another Brad and a right sided midfielder, not named Brad

Thursday, 05 June 08, 01:25 AM · Comments (27)

It emerged last night that a reporter at the Daily Mail, or somewhere, finally figured out that we only had one keeper.

In doing so he looked at the current list of Premier League goal keepers and concluded that we're after Brad Friedel.

Now, there is no substance to the rumour and if you want proof, you can read it here.

Friedel is a good goalkeeper and may very well do a good job, but this is just a rumour and when you add him to the goalkeeper rumour page, it totals a big number.

In further speculation and as easily as this could be a wind up, you never know, but we've had an email in at Blog Towers saying that Martin O'Neill is quite interested in the Birmingham City Swedish midfielder, Sebastian Larsson.

Now, the email goes on to say that this player would be happy to leave and in fact would have no problem leaving Birmingham City, which isn't really a surprise. He's also a right footed, right sided midfielder, which would be a bonus, but is also a step down from Shaun Wright-Phillips and David Bentley, in my humble opinion.

Anyway, that's it for now. A look at the Euro tournament coming up from Doc Bowles later and maybe another rumour or two and you never know, fingers crossed, something from the club maybe?

Sebastian Larsson would be a great buy, hes the next big thing in the swedish national team, and no one wuold be surprised if he takes Freddies position in the autumn.

even though he is a bluenose seb larsson is a very good player, as tottenham found out with that absaloute stunner, got a good right boot and has a dangerous delivery, in my opinion very under-rated, but id prefer david bentley cus he is class

I hope the Miguel rumour turns out to be true. He is a hell of a lot better than Nelson.

miguel wont go to chelsea or arsenal-he will be bench warming. chelsea have signed boswing for £16m so he will be their 1st RB & arsenal have sagna who has the RB spot sewn up.

I like Larson a lot, Blues's best player in my opinion.
Migel would be a super signing, as would Friedel.
All sounds positive today...

Seb Larsson was impressive for a poor Brum last year, I'd personally be happy enough to have him. If Miguel rumour is true. sign him up.

i dont see how people can be pleased with this. what happened to challenging the top 4? these players wont do that. while tottenham sign modric & dos santos, man city looking likely to sign Jo & ronaldinho we go for friedel & larsson. we will be very lucky to get 8th next year. once again, looks like us villa fans have been sucked in by spin, PR & empty promises.

Jaaskeleinen: Free
Miguel: £6-8M
SWP: £8-10M
Sidwell: £5m
Bent: £9m
Schweinteger: £12m
John O'Shea £4m

those are players we could get and with them i think we could get past liverpool and into the top 4

Apparently villa have agreed a fee with chelsea for sidwell - 5 million. If its finalised that a good price.

YES, get Seb Larsson in now, that would be a fantastic buy. That lad will develop more to his game than SWP or Bentley, I'm positive of it. Pacey, attacking minded, loves to run with the ball... and he takes a cracking free kick too. Get him in MON!

Seb Larsson would be a great buy. Get him in.

Let Bentley and SWP go. I would happily take Milner and Larsson so long as we stump up the cash for a Diego or Juninho. Perhaps Elano is up for sale?

Bill T: 2 month ago was the last time i was called twat, at Goodison when i twice cheered Villa goals sitting among evertonians. And twat was the most polite they said or did to me. I still think Seb would be a great signing.

Seb's got a great touch and can finish. I'd be happy to see him in. Brad Friedal is a proven shot stopper but how long does he have left? I'd get Wayne Hennessey over him.

FERNANDO HENRIQUE of Fluminese the Brazialian club looked to be a great keeper having just watched their game against Boca Juniors. We should go for him.

Whar matters is that we improve with quality signings this summer. We need it now, and not in 3 years ( well, we need it then too..).
