I've not got long to write this but it needs to be written and I reckon you'll undestand where I'm going to be going at a later stage.
When it starts to get a bit cryptic or bizarre it's more that I want to remind myslef of something later but also so you get a preview.
Firstly to Arsenal. I don't think we were unlucky, we simply didn't create enough chances and while there is an overall improvement in how the team 'wants to play' I'm not seeing the leaps and bounds I would have liked in how they are 'actually' playing.
It will come good and I expect that Martin O'Neill, if really questioned on it, would say he needs three or four new players and if I was really pushed on it I'd say it was pretty much the whole of midfield that needs to be replaced.
I just don't see what Gareth Barry brings to the table and I know some, if not most, are going to disagree with me, but I just think it would be better for everyone if he moved on and we brought someone in to replace him.
Like I said, it will come good but new players are needed and it is going to take time. We need a better performance and result against Liverpool this weekend; which leads me very nicely to my match prediction.
It's a quick one today because of time but I'm going for a draw. I can see Liverpool getting a goal but I can also see us getting one; not much more from us or Liverpool I'm afraid so if you want a smart bet for this weekend it's a score draw at Villa Park.
Almost lastly and onto Dimitar Berbatov from Spurs. Apparently Martin O'Neill is very keen and will be making an approach in the summer. This is only a rumour but it's twice in from two different sources.
There is also another whisper that O'Neill has a new goalkeeper as good as at Villa Park; let's wait and see.
Now, before I go and if you didn't already know, season ticket prices will be reduced for next season, just like we told you last week. How good is that?

why would Berba leave a team destined to finish 5th in the league, in the semi's of the W.Cup, the last 8 of the FA Cup and the EURO Cup for Villa a team that 1. is less than half the team Spurs are in history, worth and fans 2. which fights for relegation every year?

Seriously, as a Spurs fan, I sympathise with Villa - we are both big clubs who have underachieved for a while and I wish you well.
However, there is no way Berbatov is joining Villa. The guy is probably, with Drogba, the best centre forward in the premiership at present, he's been awesome. We paid £11m for him, his value now is probably over £30m. After the mistake of selling Carrick I cannot see the Spurs board letting him go. Also, if he does go in the future it will be to a top drawer European club such as Barca, Real or Milan for a fee in excess of £30m.
Good luck Villa - btw, I would take Gareth Barry from you. He's a big Spurs fan and would help solve our left sided problems.
If Dimitar Berbatov were to leave Tottenham Hotspur, it would most certainly not be for Aston Villa. You have nothing to offer, you are not playing well, you do not have a good side and you will not be in any form of European competition. You have not got a side with the reputation of Tottenham let alone the numerous other clubs that might be 'Interested'. Why would Totenham let one of, if not their BEST player leave for a club lower in the league than them??? Your two sources must be Tomatoe and Daddy's. What a joke. It would be more likely Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man Utd or even Liverpool with there new millions would offer £30 mill for him. But Tottenham wouldn't sell.. What would be the point?? if you think Berb would come to a 2bob club like yours. It will be a struggle for us to keep onto one of the best players in the league, but its only the top 4 or one of the big cubs in Europe that would tempt him away.

Why would Berbatov want to leave THFC (UEFA Cup QFs, FA Cup SF, Carling Cup SF)to go to Aston Villa who are close to the relegation battle?
You may have a new owner and he may have some money to spend, but if you think Berbatov would leave WHL for less than £25m you are deluded. You don't have that sort of money.

Now I'm a Spurs fan and one of my best mates is a Villa fan, so I've grown to look out for their results and genuinely hope they do well but you can't seriously believe Villa could buy Berbatov from us. I won't bother to compare and contrast the positions of our two clubs but needless to say - we're in the quarter finals of the FA and UEFA Cup, we're looking good to capture European football by way of league position and...where are Villa?
I have a lot of time for Villa and Martin O'Neill but please think about what you report on your site. No sensible, reasonably intelligent football fan would believe you had a hope of signing Dimitar, who is, on current form, one of the top strikers in Europe, not just the premier league.

While I appreciate that Villa as club are in the region of Spurs in size, I find it unlikely that a bid for Berbatov is likely to get any more than a chuckle from the WHL board. No disrespect intended. I think O'neil has made an improvement already and you will next season be roughly where Spurs are now, doing well in cup competitions and being in the best of the rest catagory challenging for fifth and the elusive fourth spot in the prem. But I think at Spurs we are probably a season in front of you as Jol has had that extra time. O'Neil has bought well and i'm sure will continue to.

Not to be rude or anything, but it really is a joke to think of making a bid for Berbatov right now - 1) Spurs would not sell him unless they received a ridiculous offer or he wanted to go; 2) Villa would not make the kind of ridiculous offer needed - only somebody like Barca or Chelsea could afford that; and 3) he would have to want to go - and with all due respect, why leave Spurs for Villa? Spurs aren't great, but they're doing better than Villa and currently have more prospect for the future.

Villa are a great club, no question. But forget about showing an interest in Berbatov. He has a long contract at Spurs, due to be extended, and Spurs are under no pressure to sell. Whatever the cynics say about the sale of Carrick proving Spurs is a selling club, ignore. Carrick had a year left on his contract. He wanted to go to Man U, fair enough, Spurs should have tied him up for longer the year before but chose not to. And scooped £18m into the bargain. But Berbatov is a different ball game. He's happy, Spurs are happy, and even if either side wasnt, a 4 year contract is pretty much legally binding! And, like I said, Villa are a great club with a great history and fan base, but lets have some perspective. What Berba does leave Spurs it will be to the likes of United, Barca or Real Madrid. I know you have a new owner, but you wont be in that league for the foreseeable future. Americans are generally pretty shrewd with their money, and whoever pays whatever for Berba, it will be over the odds, as Spurs simply dont need to sell.

Glad to here about the season ticket prices. Agree with the match prediction, score draw for me as well. I wasn't at match on wed but watched online. Played well but like you said need to create a little more and take the chances we do get.

On the Arsenal game, I agree up to a point that we didn't have bad luck, the finishing was poor, it seemed as if Carew was the only Villa player that wanted to have a shot at goal.
But if luck is to be taken as a serious factor, how lucky was the Arsenal goal? That's the kind of luck we need at the moment to win games, or to be more precise, a game.
One deflected shot to score a goal, and things might change for the better, I might be grasping at straws, but hey, I'll take anything to get points.
I can't agree with you on your Gareth Barry assessment, he was outstanding on Wednesday, as he has been for nearly all season, what is needed is a couple of decent midfielders to offer more support and attacking options around him. McCann and Petrov in the centre of midfield just isn't working, that was obvious when Berger replaced the balding one the other night, to bring a bit of life to the centre, alas, it was too late to make any difference.
Berbatov? he'll be off to Spain or Italy imo.
Prediction for Sunday, the most optimistic I can be is 1 - 1, and we will be unlucky again.

The arsenal game was very annoying, we deserved to win the game, but luck was on the gunners' side. i reckon that the liverpool game will be a draw 1-1 with Villa showing how overated Liverpool realy are, ther not that good!!! berbatov would be a gud signing, but i can't see him leaving tottenham so soon. according to most of these posts, Berbatov is one of the best players in the world. If he is that great, why is Tottenham going nowhere? If he can't put Tottenham at the top, why worry if he leaves? Accept your mediocrity and give Villa a chance.

I was thinking if I had plenty of money to buy players in the summer who would be the best one who villa had a realistic chance of getting to villa park, ie. not henry or drogba, the best and will be as good as henry, (i feel he would be anyway)is DAVID VILLA. You make your own luck and we're not doing that. I believe it's partly down to mentality; people like Gavin McCann are never going to make the sort of luck you need in the centre of the park.
Berbatove would be great but it's his first season and the sign of a good striker is to improve when he's found out, which he will be by next season. If he's still banging the goals in then then fair play, but he's likely to go to Man Utd rather than Villa.
Spurs are doing well and I expect us to be there in 3 years and players like him will sign from clubs like Spurs then, but not now.
Saying that, Spurs fans might think it ridiculous that Berbatov would go to Villa but I've just rad Juan Pablo Angel say how Arsenal were going to sign him until the move broke down because we couldn't agree a fee. Now that's madness!!!
