Arsene Wenger after Gabby Agbonlahor

Friday, 16 November 07, 02:17 AM · Comments (24)

Would you accept £15 million for Gabby Agbonlahor? It's going to come down to that if you believe what you read in the papers. Arsene Wenger is apparently thinking of making the offer to take him to North London.

Gabby has had a great start to the season, scoring five goals, but this is just paper talk and he's going nowhere.

Sure, the bright lights could attract a few players. Chumpians League football and the prospect of winning things would get most, it's the reason why we can't sign any top class players after all, but not our Gabby, of that I'm pretty sure.

If you were to cut Gabby Agbonlahor he would bleed claret and blue and because of that and because of the hope and belief surrounding the club at the moment I can't see it happening. Not for a season or three anyway.

Martin O'Neill leaving to take over at England would increase the chances of it happening but Aston Villa bringing in Jose Mourinho should be enough to keep him.

Wish full thinking! You creat a story and rubbish it! No one needs him at Arsenal. Why do we need him, after all?

What so he can stick him on the bench next to Walcott week after week?

I don't think so. I'm 100% confident Gabby (and any other player with any ambition) would rather be playing every week at someone like ours, as oppsed to warming the bench and getting the odd cup game at someone like theirs.

Agbonlahor's a good player, but I can't see Wenger spending 15 mil on him when he can get players like Hleb and Rosicky for half that.

The one thing to remember in all this is that Mr Agbonlahor is a sportsman, all sportsman (particularly footballers) want to be remembered for what they won. I agree that he will bleed claret and blue (the same way Henry used to bleed red & white, Rooney used to bleed blue, Sol Cambell used to bleed white). Bottom line he wants winners medals and he is more likely to get them in the short term with Arsenal then with Villa.

swap agbonlahor for walcott. gabby is ridiculously over rated.

Out of every single player in our squad, Gabby is the only player i am totally confident about stayin. The passion he has for our club is just as much as us fans ... the likes of reo-coker or carew etc would be off if Arsenal came in, but not Gabby! No way this kid will leave! Its similar to the Dwight Yorke situation all those years ago ... but Gabby is a local lad, not someone just shipped in from Trinidad and Tobago!

It's a compliment pure and simple. It shows we're doing well that our players are being speculated about. Barry 2 seasons ago was linked with portsmouth, Now it's Chelsea. I'm pretty sure Young will be linked to liverpool, Man Utd & Arsenal soon. So if anything it should serve as a confidence boost for our players and team.

Gabby's a pure Villa fan. If he left he knows those he was once hero to would hate him. And no Villa fan can stand that.
Paper talk. And £15mil? Make it £40mil and you've got a deal. Anything less over-the-top no way.

40mil?? wouldn't give you 40 quid for him - oh and you can have walcott for nothing another overated over priced englishman who couldn't control a bag of cement - bring in the underated cheap foreigners all day .

Get out of our country then if you don't want to support us! we should be praising our young talent, rather than the lazy overpaid shambles in the team at the moment.

If Bent was £16M then Gabby is worth more. If that perenial squad player Walcott was £12M than Gabby is worth more.

And players will go where the money is. Not where the medals are. Few honourable exceptions aside.

I know 100% that gabby is actually an Arsenal fan! I still cant see us selling though and I personally hope we don't, he is an excellant striker.

Where did you get this from Damian? Three far out rumours in one - great journalism in the Daily Sport tradition. You could have mentioned that Gabby McBonlahor will end up playing for the sweaties (well known port of entry for Bulgarians).

This Blog brightens up my day (most days), keep it up!

Is Mr Gormley a "Gooner"? Probably, I don't know but I do know he doesn't have much of a command of English grammar. Incorrect use of capitalisation and when he states “…There Rubbish”, he presumably means “..they’re rubbish”. In a short piece of 15 words, he has made 5 grammatical and/or spelling mistakes. What it must be like to be educated!

Never in a million years because wenger wrecks young english talent by not giving them much of a chance he will do the same with walcott eventualy

Not even for 50mill should we sell gabby cause in five years time he is going to be ones of the best strikers in the prem if not THE best

LOL!! Wenger would never pay 15 million for a 21 year old englishmen who although having a good time at present still has a long way to go. gabby is a good player for us but would he get in the Arsenal starting line up at the moment - No!
He has proved time and time again he can find foreigners with more talent for a tenth of the price and i dont see him his policy.
wouuld be a silly move for Gabs as well - similar to Sidwell going to Chelsea etc!!

To all you arsenal fans, you may say that you are happy at being a team full of foreigners, but at the end of the day if a certain Mr Blatter has his way which seeme very possible you my freinds will be up sh*t creek without a paddle with your two english players in your side, and one team who will be prepared will be the mighty Villa! ha ha!

UTV!

My mate coaches at the Wigan F.C academy and he told me that apparently Steve Bruce wants to make his first signing Luke Moore. Anyone heard anything else about this? Dont think we should get rid of him, he's only young, and always stands out whenever iv been down to villa park??

Haha, what country do you live in again?

I wouldn't be surprised if Wenger does want him, he has a lot of potential. You'll see a lot more of Walcott at Arsenal, remember he's only 18.
