Aston Villa star Ashley Young has been named in the England squad to face Israel and Russia in the crucial Euro 2008 qualification double header.
There is no doubt that he deserves it and anyone that has seen him play won't be surprised. The surprise is that second choice Steve noticed it.
Scott Carson and Gareth Barry are also in the squad. After Villa sign Crouch and Defoe later today that will be five players hopefully that are considered England regulars.
Sorry, it's the beer. I shouldn't drink so early on a Friday.

good, he can play right or left and has started in better form than downing, joe cole and obviously lennon, plus for me he looked brilliant for the under 21s in the summer
im irish but watch good lot of england games and love seen our players included in the england squad shows we are going forward. wouldnt be surprised in carson and young start barry prop wont. but well done lads!!
When was the last time we had 3 players in full England squad? Must be a while ago eh?
well done ash and gareth. think scotty carson maybe the only one that plays though.
DAVIES SIGNS!
Can anybody remember when the last time was that Villa has more players in the England squad then Liverpool ? ;D
Just shows what a good job MON is doing really.
3 villa players being in the England squad hasnt happend for a while, especially for competitive games!
If all players were fit, Joe Cole is the only person i would start on the left ahead of Barry or Young to be honest, Hopefully one of them get a go!! Downing is incredibly overrated and lennon is better on the right!
Anyway Congrats to the lads!!
hopefully this will help us land more players who have hopes of making the England squad
Young and Barry deserve it.
Probably Carson as well with some of his key saves (and luck) that he gave against Fulham.
So chuffed for Young! it shows you dont need to be playing for 1 of the big 4 to break in, he's started the season the way he ended it and has shown what great value for money he'll prove as well as MON's great judgement so i say let him get on with the job in hand even with signings like Harewood, im not saying he wont be any good for us but every club buys a few duff's on the way to being successful!
ive just read the mcclaren interview on skysports news and it looks like ash will actually get a chance to play too so its getting better
Ashley Young is great buy by MON £9.5million, how much is he worth now!!!!!!!
the squad for england vs czech republic of a few years ago included four villa players: southgate, merson, hendrie and dublin
