Aston Villa and the not so new shirt

Oh no just found that myself on IC Birmingham. Not that impressed. Will still obviously buy it but some of the other designs that were floating about were much better.

It's got a retro feel to it and I like it. However, it might look different with short sleeves.

I have seen worse. It's nice and simple atleast which is what i think people wanted!

I think we seem to be a little less impressed by villa these days, the shirt seems a little bit boring just like villas latest football signings.

I know you'll slate me but I told you so. No Europe no World Class Players. Harewood is a good stepping stone and as ur a bit short on numbers at least he's an extra body.

We've all seen the away shirt in my opinion. Just take a look at the picture of NRC at his press conference on the main villa site.

By the way i thought our badge was supposed to have a white border around it clearly not but it would have been better with it because the badge itself looks too big.Also the kit NRC wore was the training kit

They have changed logo, (32 Red), i went onto thier site just there and its a completely new logo, and i think if its the new logo it will suit the new kit even more

Agree with Damian. Would be sweeet without the sponsorlogo. The logo is horrible... draws attention from rest of the shirt. Get rid of the hearts, spades etc at least!

As a designer myself this shirt looks like it's been pushed through Nikes design department as quick as possible... same goes for whoever designed our new logo/club badge! Take a look at the detail Nike put into Arsenals new away shirt, as away shirts go i personally am very impressed, this however does nothing for me!

I'd rather Villa were making a big deal about unvailing 6 new signing than having an "exclusive launch" for this pile of crap! What a waste of time! Fair enough it's got "the nike swoosh tick" but if this was made by Le Coq Sportif we'd all be in uproar!

By the way, did any one see Fulham showing of the new kit on sky sports?... also made by Nike - very low key - WITH 5 NEW SIGNING WEARING IT!

if that is the new shirt i am not that impressed with it, the new 32red logo would be much better. i hope nike aren't going to do to us what they have been doing to utd fans for years....bring out a new shirt every year which is the same as last years but with a thin white line on it!! if you cover the nike tick....its the same as last year! thought they would give it a whole new look myself, i think i would play blind and go with the away kit without even seeing it!

the kit is the same as it has always been just with a tick instead of arrows.what more was we expecting.I heard the away is the one they have managed to play with and make a bit different.

to be honest i haven't found it out....maybe i am just dreaming but it has been reported that if he left chelsea he would opt for villa over the rest and MON has made it clear for a while that he really likes him. if spurs are in for him it might change things as it would mean he could stay in london but i think it would be a great signing for us if he does come!

i think we have missed out on s.w.p and defoe so hopefully martin has many more big names kept on the quiet.and hopefully he doesn't restrict himself to just the premiership.

Woodinho - you'll notice that the Arsenal away kit is exactly like Utd's last year, but white....not really a lot of detail in that design!

I think the shirt is all you could want - it's claret, and blue, and it's got no crap on it and the sponsor have even changed they're corporate colours to tow the line (did muller? No). Cheer up lads!

Hmmm it is nice yes but i would have been better sticking to last seasons one and stickin a nike tick on it all the build up over this kit for it just to turn out lookin like the same as last seasons

Are they bringing out some pyjama bottoms to go with the top??!! I don't really like it but in fairness I think the main problem is the sponsors logo I think it makes look bland and a little childish rather than 'simple & clean' which is what I persume they were trying to go for.

Atleast, i think, the away kit will look mint, somthing to look forward too.

Anyone know if the US tour kit is being launched today aswell..? They are going to remove the sponser on that kit so interesting to see what they do with it.

i'm beginning to agree with you Stevo. If you go on to the 32red website, it is a different logo. why would they have the new logo on the website and the old one on our shirts ? all will be revealed anyway

Must say i'm dissapointed ! but thats probably all down to the big build up , i think building it up like that , giving us teasers and gettin people to pre order was bad form by the club! theres enough frustration , expectation and dissapointment around already , we didnt need that!, i really feel someone from the club , ANYONE , should come out and talk to the fans soon about whats happening , its easily seen from a lot of peoples commemts that we're all feeling the same way, frustrated , dissapointed but still all tryin our best to be hopefull , sorry for sounding negative but its the way i feel , and its not nice to feel this way about something you love! and please don't bang on to me about havin faith in MON etc etc etc ! because i do , and i also realise theres plenty of time left, blah blah blah! on the up side i think Harewood although not a world class player (nowhere near in fact) is a good strong dependable man to have on the bench to strenghten the squad!

yes we are a football club so why not aston villa football club. when the club made the changes they said first and foremost we are a football club. second to that, if there is a second is we are aston villa .... i'm all for using avfc for branding, and instead of picking bolton as an example i'll pick manchester united. they have manchester united football club in teh badge but on the shirt in the bottom corner they have mufc. its all opinion and you're entitled to yours

as for the star. i think its embarrassing because its desperate. also when we play in europe they'll be no star above the badge because of this star in the badge ... i'd rather the recognition above the badge, which is accepted throughout europe as recognition of winning the big cup ...

The new away shirt looks awsome - nice '82 kickback and will be the shirt I'm planning on getting!!! This at least makes up for the fact the home shirt looks a bit crap and we're signing shit cast offs from West Ham. I can see MON's plan though - mid table for the next couple of years, no Europe, no big signings and pinning all the hopes that the 15 year olds we've just bought for the youth academy will do the biz when they mature in four years time. Prepare for a shit couple of years with plenty of draws to come!!!

Away kit is typically awesome - better collar, design etc. This shirt is exactly why everyone was excited about nike - classy looking sports wear.

As for Harewood, I don't think we should complain too much. If he comes good he will unsettle alot of defences and if he is back up to Carew then i'm all for it. I don't think this means we will not be in for another striker in the defoe mould -personally, i would love to see defoe, SWP and a solid/quick right back at Villa Park next season.

i agree with you however, 32red.com are only 5 years old as of any day now, so for them they need 32red.com on the shirt as its a massive thing for them in terms of getting exposure

we may all know who 32red are because of who they sponsor ... but many don't

I just think the overall image of Aston Villa as a whole (kit, stadium, players, FANS!) is more important than making sure our sponsors are happy! I heard a whisper that Randys company were gonna be the sponsor anyway... but it was only a whisper!

At least we all agree the Away strip is the mutts nuts!

It looks to me some of you have short memories when we signed Peter Withe the comments were who & why , he scored the goals that made every team scared of us,give Marlon Harewood a chance he has not kicked a ball yet and people are moaning MON knows what he is doing ,I have spoken to ex pro & his comment was "he will bring success back to Villa not with a team of big names but hard working pro's & prepare yourself for the good times to come" .

The away kit looks awesome, but I think the home kit looks great as well. I'm glad that nike decided to keep it simple (Claret with blue sleeves), I was scared that they were going to go for some really elaborate design with claret and blue all over the place with crazy shapes!

I'm definitely buying the away kit though.

love the away kit !!!! smart and classy, home kit too plain and boring we should have had a quality shirt with detail that looked like some thought had gone into the design another season were i will have to live in the away kit oh well
