Aston Villa get Hull City at the KC Stadium

Sunday, 04 December 05, 03:27 PM · Comments (0)

Aston Villa will travel to Hull in January for the third round of the FA Cup.

Hull, currently 17th in the Coca Cola Championship, or what I like to call division two are 16 places above Doncaster from division three or as it is now known, league one.

Aston Villa have played Hull 21 times in the past. Hull have won five with Villa winning ten.

We've played Hull five times in the FA Cup but one of those was a replay from a 1-1 draw in January 1956. The most common result in the FA Cup is 3-0 to Aston Villa, as seen in 1908, 1926 and 1999.

Let's hope then that David O'Leary is gone by then and we beat Hull again 3-0.

Hull manager Peter Taylor is sure going to want to do well in this competition as is Hull City goalkeeper Boaz Myhill, who joined Hull from Aston Villa as one of the first casualties when David O'Leary joined. The keeper is now been scouted by Arsenal of all people.

It should make for an interesting tie. Let's hope it's a good result for Aston Villa.

Other notable ties from the draw include:

West Bromwich Albion v Reading
Wolves v Plymouth
Torquay v Birmingham
Stoke v Tamworth
Burton Albion or Burscough v Manchester United

The full third round draw.
