Aston Villa headlines next week

Sunday, 04 December 05, 01:45 PM · Comments (0)

We're going to push the boat out and tell you today what the headlines are going to be next week from David O'Leary and the official web site.

We think top of the list will be David O praising 'Smiler' McCann and telling us how he was instrumental in Smiler getting the goal by him telling McCann to get more shots in and how we need more of this from Gavin to complete his game.

We're also going to see O'Leary backing Ridgewell and praising Barry and we expect he'll be continuing his love affair with Olof Mellberg.

Expect to hear a lot of 'I's' and 'big style' next week when he talks of the pressure he is under and also expect a lot of 'the buck stops with me'.

Lastly we're going to hear that Villa have got 7 points from a possible nine but you should also remember under David O'Fool Villa have lost just as many as they have won.

David O'Blarney doesn't miss an opportunity to blow his own trumpet but when you read all the garbage spewing from him remember it was against the worst team in Premiership history, a team that had dropped more points than us in the three matches leading up to the defeat at Villa Park and lastly against a team who's manager is actually under more pressure to get results than ours.

Why he is still in a job only Doug Ellis knows.

All the papers today are saying scrappy game, average football and all we'll get from the manager is 110% and the above - but we'll never win anything if we can't play decent football and one thing is clear David O'Leary is as tactically aware as a lemming.

Are we missing a headline - email it to me at damian@astonvilla.biz.
