Bill Howell: Not an international man of mystery

Tuesday, 25 March 08, 02:00 PM · Comments (7)

What annoys me about Bill Howell is that he doesn't credit where he gets his stories. On this site you'll often see links to other Aston Villa sites and news sites; mostly because if we pick something up from somewhere else, we link to it.

You don't see it all the time, but Bill never does it and we all know he picks up news and rumours from Aston Villa sites and passes them off as his own.

On the other hand though, the club did send him a picture of the new shirt, hours before it was released, he seems to know of a ticket price increase for next season and he's as good as told us there will be no big name sponsor also.

Bill Howell: Muppet

The thing about him getting snippets of news is that it goes against the new core values of the club so if he is getting them, good for him, but it seems like nothing has really changed with the people at the club.

But it's mostly all just PR from the club these days on that front and it really isn't to do with this post and will be getting dealt with at another time.

Anyway, to the point of this post; 82% of you think of Bill Howell as a muppet.

I must say, I didn't vote because I had a felling the vote would go this way, but from now on if we do refer to Bill Howell he'll no longer be referred to as an international man of mystery, but a muppet.

Sorry Bill, but if the cap fits.

lol, Damian you are a very naughty boy! :o

Must admit I found Bill useless when doing the Villa protests, no wonder he had a close relationship with those at the club, his paper and him were the only ones not to report the march we all did, it even got national/sky etc attention but nothing off that lot. They didn't have to agree with it but it was news. HE has always been a very tame reporter, such a shame Leon Hickman got pushed out, now that guy did have an edge. Was never one to say yes yes yes, though so he'd never have fitted.

I do agree with your general thoughts (no pun intended!) Damian in that Villa is becoming more of a public relations company than a football club. But that's the way they like to do things over there...hence why Aston Villa Football Club has become AVFC.

Yee Haa, Go Team!
