Blackburn 2 Aston Villa 0: One less positive for David O'Leary

Maybe the headline is a little strong but unless you're a regular reader you'll have no idea what we mean. In the week we asked for some David O'Leary positives and one that came back quite a bit was the purchase of Sorensen. We were reminded yesterday of exactly how useless he can be.

Villa lost because they didn't take their chances. Villa lost because they didn't have enough shots on goal. Villa lost because they didn't pass the ball well enough or create enough space. Villa lost because David O'Leary brought off two strikers and replaced them with one when we were losing.

It doesn't matter what excuse you want to use or even if you have another - it's because we are so used to them since O'Leary became Aston Villa manager that confirm O'Leary has to go.

The manager spoke of 'expectations' recently and he wound a few people up but we are Aston Villa and we should have expectations. We are a bigger club than Blackburn and we have a better squad. We should be doing better than they are but we wont with David O'Leary.

If Middlesbrough win their two games in hand they'll go six points ahead of us. You can work the rest out but if you can't; we're still in 14th but we'll probably be 15th and five points adrift if the teams below and above us win games in hand.

A quarter of the season to go and we're 15th with 34 points. I hope to God that Doug does what he has to do as soon as Aston Villa are safe.
