Blues fail in Ridgewell approach

Thursday, 01 February 07, 11:45 AM · Comments (9)

When Liam Ridgewell was told of the interest in his services from Birmingham City this morning, he was heard laughing in the corner of the changing room. When someone posted it last night on one of the pages I also laughed.

It's not that Liam Ridgewell is too good for them, even though he is, it's that they're not good enough and playing for a team like Birmingham City would be relegating himself as a footballer.

You all know my views on Ridgewell. I see players like Ridgewell and Cahill as the future of this club. He is a great defender that scores goals. I even think he'll play for England one day and if he keeps communicating he'll only get better and who knows, one day he may even captain of his country.

Mellberg will be 30 years old next season and he's only really going to have another couple or three seasons before he starts to feel the strain and loses the edge that makes him the defender he is.

Ridgewell is 22 years old and he's got ten years left and he shouldn't rush into it; he knows one day he'll be first choice for Martin O'Neill.

It looks likely that Birmingham City will be playing Premiership football next season but as likely as that is it's more likely that they'll be relegated again fairly soon after. Why degrade yourself to that level of football when you've got so much talent, would you?

Way off track Damian. He actually wanted to join Blues (he's a bluenose you know!) but the deal was blocked by Learner and O'Neill. Get your facts right - assumption makes you look foolish pal!

i'm not having a pop but you can't come on here saying this and expect nothing in return .... where do you think ridgewell is from that makes him a bluenose?

now, while i don't know liam ridgewell personally i know he's a smart lad and because of that i know he wouldn't want to go play football for your lot. as for o'neill blocking it you are right there. it didn't get to liam until this morning, which is when he laughed.

Somehow i dont think Ridgewell is a Bluenose as he is from Bexley in London and was a West Ham apprentice!

Nice try small heath. i must congratulate you on a fair attempt of winding us up, but you see we are true fans so we do follow our team and know a little bit about our youngsters, and as my fellow villain pointed out, we signed ridgewell from west ham, and he is from london.
we have a fine selection of youngsters coming through, i suppose thats why we take interest in them, where as you have a fine selection of youngsters too....but they happen to be arsenals, never mind eh?

How strange that we only here off our lower league neighbours about Ridgewell being a Bluenose and wants to play for them, after this story breaks in the local news?

I think this guy clearly seems to want to carry with him a rather large blue and white wooden spoon to stir things up.

I find it well funny that Bluenoses come on here and try to get us all going. Well mate, we are all just laughing at you, your comments are without evidence and we wouldn't believe you lies anyway!!!

C'mon you Villa tomorrow, 3 pts in the bag please

Ridgewell a bluesnotbox? dream on pal, and the offer to buy him from Villa is the daftest thing I've heard since the bloosers started signing one legged players.
