The News of the World have us linked to Liverpool number two Scott Carson while Craig Gordon has been around for a few weeks. The new one this week is Charlie Itandje.
I'd love to say that 'he's a great keeper' but all I know about him is he's played for the French U21 team and he does a dance before a penalty and I got both of those bits of information from the ever reliable Wikipedia page.
Sorensen believes he will be first choice next season but some at the club, you'd think based on the amount of speculation, seem to think differently.
The other is Scott Carson from Liverpool. He's keen for regular first team football and told a reporter “I’ve not heard about any clubs being interested in me but there are a few weeks left in the transfer window and the boss knows it’s not good for me if I’m just sitting on the bench or playing two or three games a season".
The rumoured price is £6mn. for Carson which no doubt some will say is a lot of money but if the club are willing to pay it then he's worth it and most importantly if he's the player Martin O'Neill has identified to fill that position for the next ten years then £6mn. is a snip.
A new keeper looks for sure and like I've banged on about before all the successful teams have a great keeper and build from the back. It's vital if we're to kick on.

I would go for Carson out of these three.
The fee of 6 million for an england u21 player with alot of ability is a good price in todays market. He is hungry to prove himself and i just feel he would gel the best into our current squad.
I dont know anything about the french lad so cant comment. Craig Gordon is at a club where he is by far the best player thats why the price is so stupid. When we put it into perspective that Petr Cech was £7million and hearts want minimum £9million for Gordon we can see it is a bit of a joke
Scott Carson is the man for me. However i think if he comes both Sorensen and Taylor will have to leave. I think Taylor will get even more unsettled if he stays any longer.
Carson ain't bad, hope we don't concede too many penalties though! ;D
It has to be scott carson, For one he's young so best years a deffo ahead for him and i think given another season or two he could be full time england keeper ahead of Paul "shakey" robinson or Chris "snapping bones" kirkland, Ben foster will be his nearest challenger in the future for the england no1 gloves. Then if we don't get him we go for Gordon just not for 10 mil rumored cause that's a joke for a keeper, i'd want buffon or casillas for that amount of cash.
Jasskelinan will be our keeper next season! I have a pretty good contact and it may not go through for a while but i have been informed personal terms have already been agreed between the 2 parties. Jimmy u askes on another page what is delaying it. I dont know mate - i am 90% my contact will be correct tho. He has never been wrong about a transfer so far
Does anyone know where the £9m figure for Gordon came from ?
I wrote on here the other day about what his agent said...there has been no other bids since the £5m one from Sunderland was turned down.
How did it suddenly jump up to nearly double ?
I can't recall anyone else putting in a bid of that size, but i may be wrong.
Can anyone shed any light on this because I think around £6-7m would not be too outrageous in the current climate.
UP THE VILLA ;)
carson all the way! easily worth £6mil and youthful aswell! Cg on the other hand is a decent stopper but we'd be foolish to splash out £9mill for him. i agree wiv claridge if arguably the best keeper in the world at the moment only cost £7mil Hearts are either deluded or just wanna hold onto CG by pricing him out the market!
Gordon seems out-of-order as he's too much for a 'keeper, especially one at a standard of football such as the SPL. Would much prefer Carson as he's got good ability and a lot of potential given the right defence, and even with Charlton's rubbish defence last season he managed to stand out. £6mn. is spot-on.
I want carson but i dont think we will get any of those keepers you have selected if we do il be suprised
I'm sure Gordon is a very good goalkeeper and would probably do very well in the Premiership however there is always a huge risk when signing players from weak leagues that they may not successfully make the step up to the big league. This has always been my fear with Gordon as it was also with Boruc who doesn't appear to be leaving Celtic now, and with such a huge price tag maybe we'd be better off going for Carson or Jaaskelainen who are both excellent keepers and vitally have proved themselves in the Premiership. Personally I would love to see Carson join Villa more so than Jussi because Carson is much younger and has the potential to be a far better keeper than Jussi if not already better and the reported £6 million that Liverpool are looking for seems a fair price if you take everything into account. I dearly hope that MO'N will go for Scott Carson and ideally snap him up before the team head off to the USA where I hope Carson isn't the only latest signing on show with Porto's Bosingwa strongly linked and SWP and Defoe still possibilities.
carson is class! i would have him in our team any day! but jussi is just as good but he will not be around 4 as long as carson will..
i think we should make a cheeky loan big 4 foster!!! iv not then go splash the cash on carson or then gordon!
You know what put's me off about Carson ?
The penalties at the U21 tournament.
Whenever i've seen him play generally he's looked well capable but i can't forget how helpless he looked at the pens and he didn't get near any of them if i remember right.
UP THE VILLA ;)
As an add on, (and before anyone else gets it in ! lol) we could say the same of the Dutch keeper at the U21 tournament.
It's just that Waterman (can i sing the feem toon) is not the multi million pound subject of speculation here and obviously not good enough for our beloved AVFC. He'll most probably end up at St Andrews for £5m (!)
I like Carson...but he just didn't instill any confidence in me on that performance when a lot was at stake. Hope i'm wrong if we get him.

I think Jussi is one of the few keepers that has performed week in week out in the premiership over quite a few seasons, he may not last for ten years but he would last long enough for us to have made a bit of a name for ourselves again and maybe by then we can attract a really big name as his replacement. He controls what goes on in his penalty area, and i remember how frustrated ive been when weve played Bolton in recent seasons and he has done so well.
True what you say about pens av33 but he is still young and got pleanty of time to practice pens i reakon after a year or 2 at villa he would be much better at stopping pens M.O.N would have him practiceing them every single day
Liverpool seem to have the goalkeeping situation done and dusted for next season so i don't think they'd want to get rid of Carson anyway.
Dudek has gone to Real on a free, i guess to get wages down and i think maybe he is the only keeper they wanted shut of.
Reina will be No1 with Carson his back up. They have the Bulgarian U21 keeper Mihalov as third choice and England U20 David Martin coming through.
They don't need the money where as Hearts will try and get as much as they can for Craig Gordon.
Tone on here says the Jussi deal is done and he's on his way to AV. His mate ain't been wrong yet on transfers so we're all probably pissin in the wind anyway !!!
Jussi is great but how much would he cost compared to the young bucks we are rumoured with who could be at AV for years to come?
UP THE VILLA ;)
i think carson is the man for us and would be great if we could get him, when is the usa tour i thought they had already gone but i guess not? yakubu might be going to the blues? i think we should get in there and steal the deal i think he would get us 20 goals easy!!!
bass2000
The Yak is a great talent but £10m ?!!! Dunno where Nose are gonna find that kind of dough. Either Sullivan will have to sell a shitload more dildos or they better hand over to the Chinaman and quick !!! :D
Just seen on text that they are also after Darren Fletcher for £6m. Guess who else they say is after him...Newcastle, Spurs and Villa !!!
UP THE VILLA ;)
Also, according to eatsleepsport, Villa and Fulham are looking at Hameur Bouazza of Watford.
I must admit he caught my eye last season but is really no better than the players that we already have IMO.
They quote MON as "a onfirmed admirer" of the player bit Boothroyd would want big money.
Let him want I say !!! :D
UP THE VILLA
Apologies for missing letters etc. USB keyboard playing up.
I am not the bloke off Allo Allo !
IP THE VULA :D ;)
Sorrenson is a good keepr but I think there are better ones out there that we could potentialy get.
Carson, Foster, Jussi, Gordon are all, in my humble opinion, better than big Tom.
A good keeper could possibly get you a few points a season by keeping clean sheets, a great keeper WOULD get you those points, and then some.
Not bothered who is between the sticks, anyone of the above would do!!
UTV!!! ;D
cucidini the man villa need :)
we shood get gordon or carson but carson looks set to stay at liverpools so i think we should get gordon he looks great. big price tag but still i think he will be a great aquision to us plus he is better a penelties than carson and we give way lots of pens lol
;D
