Charlton 0 Aston Villa 0

I've just got a text from a friend at the game and he's not happy that Moore was left on the bench and by all accounts he is more than justified.

The best football today was played when Moore was on the pitch and it raises the question David O'Leary will never answer; why not start with Moore and Phillips?

A typical Aston Villa performance today since David O'Leary became manager and nothing of note to tell you apart from Aaron Hughes was replaced for the second half by Luke Moore.

This could have been because O'Leary wanted to play for the win but it's more likely Hughes picked up a knock.

Samuel did well as cover and Ridgewell had another good game. That's 31 points from 27 games this season, ten of them from draws.

I read on the BBC before this match that this is Villa's worst start to the Premiership campaign since (guessing here) 1997/98. Hopefully Villa will be able to rectify things when Portsmouth travel to Villa Park next time out.
