They are property developers and Aston Villa have a lot of land currently undervalued in terms of long-term worth - I may be wrong but it looks as if they may be more interested in off field activities than on field and if you take your eye off the ball for a moment in the Premiership it could all go horribly wrong.
What has been said to us by the Comer brothers? The only interest I can see they have in Aston Villa is what they can get out of it and if they take over I don't expect us to be challenging for anything more than what we have been challenging for the past ten years.
Michael Neville is fronting this deal because he's brought the parties together. Is he putting any of his own cash in? I doubt it. Is he getting any cash out if the deal goes through, I suspect he is and I don't blame him or think there is anything wrong with him doing that but he's the only one talking to us and I don't think he really knows what is going on.
Doug Ellis might not be everyones favourite Chairman but one thing is for sure and that is he's taken the club from close to going bust to a multi-million pound business free of debt.
Many talk of not spending money but David O'Leary has spent over ?20mn. since being at the club and the plc has committed itself to a further ?8mn on a new training complex with more earmarked for ground development.
I want what Chelsea have got and don't think there is anything wrong with taking advantage of a bent football system and if I knew a Russian billionaire I'd be calling him every day, but I don't. I also don't think the Comer brothers have the same intentions for Aston Villa as Roman Abramovich had for Chelsea - simply because all we are hearing is Michael Neville saying Champions League football is possible at Villa Park in three years - nice talk but where is the substance?.
I may be wrong and I could be praising Luke and Brian Comer this time next year but if I'm not I'll most likely be calling for Doug Ellis to come back because we might have no assets left, no money in the bank and we could be in serious trouble.
This is only my opinion and I'm only writing it because there seems to be this complete blind faith in two brothers that have never said a word about Aston Villa or showed the slightest bit of interest in our club.
