It looks like he has if you believe what you read on talk 107 and I have no reason not to believe them.
talk 107 is a new talk radio station for Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians so you'd think they might know a little about Craig Gordon and you'd think they wouldn't put this up unless they were 100% sure.
I for one will be a little disappointed if this is true because I would have thought, if we had made an approach, that we were surely the favourites to sign him.
The thing is we may not have actually made a bid. It is all paper talk and we've heard nothing from the club. The club also have this new set of core values and one of those is openness.
If they had made a bid and it was widely speculated that they had made a bid, surely they would have told us or at the very least they'll tell us tomorrow they had a bid accepted, if this turns out to be true?
Anyway, the hunt goes on and who knows, we might have a keeper already lined up to be paraded at a press conference tomorrow along with five other signings. That last bit was said, not knowing anything and merely playing on previous expectations.

O'Neill's relaxed approach and value-for-money talk makes me think he was probably too late in for him.
Let's hope there's a plan B.
why would villa be favourates to sign him over sunderland?
because we're confident we're going to stay up.
MUZ
i've said that because i'm a villa fan and in my opinion we're a bigger club .. you've also just come up and there is an element of risk in joining a team that has just come up
however, if he has gone to sunderland and we did have a bid accepted and did speak to him the only reason i can see it coming down to is guaranteed to start or #1 shirt and money
only my opinions ...
Bigger club, Premiership squad, there's more of a chance of Sunderland going down (although I don't think they will), the state-of-the-art training ground that is on a par with if not better than any other top club in Europe and we're going places (not to say Sunderland aren't).
He was due for talks tomorrow. Fair play to Sunderland if he has signed, they need someone good at the back. It's a shame Keane's missed out on so many of his other quality targets. I still reckon he'll do ok with Sunderland though.
and i think you will stay up and over the next 2 or 3 season keane will make you a strong team. then he goes to united and you struggle again, possibly
that is the risk
when keane goes to united, okay if, he'll have the pick of any keeper and he'll be able to afford any keeper ...
why would villa be favourates to sign him over sunderland?
Because "MUZ", the frog has gone over the goose and frolicked with the paper-backed gnomes whioh are in the middle of collecting egg shells... and making martini's
Ask a stupid question get a stupid answer...
Unfortunately, it looks as if Gordan values his home-life more than his career - you can't blame him, we're all the same. It's just going to be very frustrating if we get through this season without qualifying for europe as we are going to be in exactly the same position as this, next year, without a hope of signing the big names. Perhaps we should have offered very high wages (like West Ham) to attract the quality, make sure we get into Europe this season, then off-load the high earners at the end of the season and attract the players MON really wants in. By this, i mean quality players who want to play for Villa, but also want Europe.
I can't find any clarification anywhere, my initial thoughts are; that the fact he's undergone a medical makes a lot of people assume the deal is done, when it's a little more complicated than that. Hopefully, it's just routine and nothing happens tonight, tomorrow he arrives in Birmingham and talks, has a medical, takes a few days to himself and makes a decision. I'd be rather annoyed if he'd joined tonight without even giving MON a chance to offer him something.
he hasn't signed for Sunderland, this is the same TalkSport that said over the weekend that we'd unveil more than one signing on Monday which didn't happened.
he hasn't even spoken to us yet (talks tomorrow apparently) and i would really doubt his ambitions if he decided to make a switch after only speakin to the one club; when arguably the more attractive proposition are also in for him
He probably wants to be closer to home, and when you pick up a premiership players wages you can afford to have a little less ambition if it means your home life is disrupted minimally. Sure Sunderland will finish below us but he will probably have a clause to leave them if they are relegated and he will be guaranteed to start. Just ashame if true, that he didn't give 2 days trial at Villa as I'm sure MON could have bent his ear.
sad 2 see him sign for them but 2 be honest sunderland are a big club with one of the best fan bases in england also ther have got a 50,000 ground....im not trying to big them up but ther hav got a manager and funds 2 become a top club i just hope now that we can pull our finger out and get some top players in
at avfc_redditch
its not talksport ... its his local radio station in scotland ..
at ads
exactly. it's called speculate to accumulate!
on openess we have heard nothing about this fella mennesou, not one word
But then there is a fine line between high speculation for hopefully a short period and doing a Leeds i suppose...............
He will be number 1 at Sunderland and play every week - but only number 2 or 3 at Villa.
Talk107 have been spot on with everything so far regarding Gordon, which is basically due to one of Gordons best friends working for the station.
Cracking signing for Sunderland, appears Villa werent prepared to offer the cash. So much for having a billionaire in charge
This whole transfer window has been a disaster! It really is starting to hurt that we have signed 2 "billy average" players!
This is What I have already written on another Villa site - thought it might make interesting reading:
Title: ANYONE KNOW A DECENT RIGHT BACK?
I feel like I'm playing Sunday league again and I'm frantically texting my mates for players on a saturday night to play the following morning! Embarrasingly enough it is to admit it - that seems to be the situation down at villa park with the Liverpool game just around the corner!
I mean, I've been out the country for two weeks (including the Inter Milan game...!) and upon my return we have still not signed anyone - and to add to that I see that Harewood has the No.9 shirt! That to me says we are done as far as forwards and the transfer market are concerned! Okay fair enough!
But what I'm really trying to say is - WHERE ARE THE SIGNINGS MARTIN???????????
I thought we'd at least have got a RB in for the friendlies to get him bedded in! Instead if we do manage to scramble one in by the time we play the "poor little scousers" he will have had about 1 days training with the players and no match practice what so ever!
I'm all for getting value for money but this is starting to take the p**s!
Yeah, yeah, I know we have three games before the deadline - and MON is confident we will have the players by the deadline - but, by that point we could have dropped 9 points due to not having a decent amount of players... add those 9 points to last season and we'd be close to - or even in europe!!! We cannot afford f**k ups like this!
It really is just not good enough! Things should have been done and put in place a long time ago (probably b4 the friendlies even started) and if I was Randy I'd been telling MON that!
By the way did any of you lot go to the Inter game? If so was NRC really as good as everyone is harping on about.... also was Harewood there?
I listened to the phone in on talksprt that happened about 3 quaters of an hour ago. Someone phones in-a representative from hearts. They said that the deal will go through tomorrow morning. Manchester City being interested was only paper talk and there was no substance behind it and the reason villa have missed out is becaused they stalled on a fee which they were trying to negotiate! that was straight from the horses mouth!
Villa lost out on this because they wouldn't match what Sunderland offered, end of!!!!!
Nothing has changed since Doug left, on this occasion we have made a big blunder and it was because we were being too tite-thats the bottom line!!!!
Closer to home? Closer to his family?
What?
I'd say it was quicker and easier to get from BHX to Edinburgh/Glasgow or wherever he lives than it is from Sunderland.
A friend of mine who lives in Edinbrugh and travels around the cuntry on a regular basis told me getting to Birmingham is far, far easier than getting to Sunderland.
OK we are as the bird flies further from Scotland the Sunderland, but the bird doesnt fly via Sunderland.
If he goes to Sunderland over Villa for family/commute reasons I'd be surprised.
Ooops can;t edit the country mistake, and yes it was a mistake :-)
I don't think it's sorted yet if craig said he would speat to martin i'm sure he will, by all accounts he's a decent lad so i think there's no problem there. If we win the race don't call us as we've missed out on three targets this close season and we deserve better, if you win same goes, anyway best of british for the season.
It doesn't make any sense to me, if he's 'signed' why isn't anywhere? The signing of the Season for a team and they don't broadcast it everywhere for their fans to see?
there are a lot of reports saying he is at villa park tomorrow for talks, i can't seem to find anything saying he has signed for sunderland, and there are no reports of a press conference from the stadium of light either, so i will be taking that report with a pinch of salt, at least until i see him signing on the dotted line somewhere. what will be will be, up the villa :)
LINK
die hard fans, haven't the foggiest.
I'll believe it when I see it.
we need this guy because no offence to thomas i personly dont find him of a high enough class for european football but thats if we get him also right back is a must and i mean must hoyte is a must for me young class the allround packed for me up the villa
I spend alot of my time looking over p""s poor websites looking for info about who we are signing and I for one have had enough.
Gordon is going to Villa for talks out of respect for MON and to look at his options. Any idiot would come to Villa but we just don't know the in's and out's of the whole thing. If it happens it happens. All I know is come saturday, we will have 11 players on the pitch ready for it. We cannot have it perfect all time but we are still in good shape and thats enough for me.
I just give up on the whole speculation crap. MON will not talk about anything until it happens so it's all a big waste of time. Lets Keep the Faith in the team and MON/Lerner but not in these ridiculous websites (apart from avfcblog)
smash
Shame if Gordon goes to SAFC, I've heard that Sir Alex has expressed an interest in Charles Itandje of Lens, more competition for our supposed targets. Everyone must really be worried about AVFC with MON at the helm!!
I think that MON has been frustrated by other clubs coming in for his first choice targets, muddying the waters. BUT he has kept to his core values of insisting on QUALITY and VALUE.
Yes, I am getting worried, but have faith that MON will come up trumps at the end of the transfer window (I hope).
To Damian; why the warning about clean, do you expect this article to enrage readers?
Nothing has officially been confirmed yet.But it is looking promising for us.Anyway all the best for the coming season.
hear, hear. On a lighter note, blues want vassell! yay
DLS mate, suggest you look at a map of the country - one direct road from Sunderland to Edinburgh (A68). Birmingham is three times the distance. These guys travel by Car mate - not in the cattle trains.
at andy5759
the other post about gordon got a bit messy between some villa and sunderland fans .. kept most on but had to take away a few
Harewood has got another ten minutes to score against Walsall - and prove to us that he is not the bag of crap we all think he is...
Anyone prepared to give me odds on him not scoring?
that bloke couldn't hit a barn door from 5 yards!!!
YEP IT HAS HAPPEND ITS ALL OVER THE PRESS NOW BBC ITV SKY SPORTS RADIO STATION ETC ETC
OHH WELL NEVER MIND LIKE IS AID LAST WEEK I COULDNT GIVE A DAMN WHO WE SIGN NO MORE ANT&DEC WILL DO ME THATS HOW BOTHERD I AM ABOUT TRANSFERS
THE CLUB I LOVE BUT THE WAY THEY RUN TRANSFERS IS AS BAD AS THE LOCAL SUNDAY LEAUGE TEAM
DONT LET TRANSFERS BOTHER YOU BECAUSE ITS NOT WORTH IT
Hairy H tell me about it... I'm expecting a few black eyes next season from Marlons stray shots.... and I sit in the upper Trinity!
Don't lose hope guys! I don't think Gordon is nailed on to sign for Sunderland. He's coming down to VP to meet MO'N and Mr Lerner tomorrow to have a medical and discuss personal terms just as he has done for the past 2 days up at Sunderland. We'll be able to offer him higher wages and a higher standard of football. Also he'll be out at our new training complex and I'm sure he'll be impressed by that. I don't know what kind of facilities Sunderland have but I'm sure they're not up to the standard of ours. Did I mention that we have a better team than Sunderland and a better manager and a better Owner?Chairman and better support and we're in a better city and we play better football and we have more of a history and we have more of a future- Why wouldn't he join?
LINK
WHAT THE F@@K IS GOING ON? IT@S A F@@KIN JOKE.
MON NEEDS HIS HEAD TESTING
dont lose hope as it says on all of the websites he is set to hold talks with villa b4 makina decision personally i think he would choose villa but i dont no what is happenin any way these are only rumors on the websites as yet it is not confirmed on sky sports who would of had conformation long before any other website chek it out
Im really pissed off about this. All us have not got egg on our faces :D
It appears as if he hasnt even bothered to talk to Villa. I read just before coming on here aswell about a statement from MON saying that the price interested him.
O well another missed opportunity. This one has really got me down as i really did think he would pick Villa over Sunderland. Perhaps they offered more, perhaps we never even had a bid, perhaps he saw something in Roy Keane & Sunderland that really inspired him or perhaps he just wanted to be closer to home.
After this i am really begining to doubt that we will get Curtis Davis aswell. Im also doubting that the players will be in before the transfer window closes and we will be forced to wait until January (this is only temporary i still keep the faith)
Fair play to Sunderland no hard feelings youve got yourself a good keep and he will improve your squad alot.
jimmy d, wake up its all over!we have 20m training acamamy mte so they are pretty much up to scatch(although i hear your swimmingpool is better.as for a better manager.....only time will tell.squad wise you win,we are under some serious rebuilding at the min!oh and for a better owner, i thought yous was a yank ;)
Thanks xandeh I'm well and truly pissed off now. If that's true which it seems to be then Gordon is a bloody idiot. Why wouldn't he even come down to chat with MO'N and Lerner he could of at least given us a chance. Anyway Sunderland are shit why would you want to play for them when you have the chance to play for us. Gordon- you need your head testing mate!
Am i clutching at straws - "BBC Sport believes" - I "believe" in the existance of Fairies - but i might be wrong..............
i'm getting a little annoyed with villa fans referring to this amazing training facility we've got as a pull for players
most premiership football teams have exactly what we've got and in terms of arsenal; their one is much better
all we've done is catch up ... the training ground isn't a pull for players
I totally agree Damian... I'm sure prospective players would be really impressed by the amount of empty parking spaces, free bikes, empty pools and so on... NOT!
In terms of my earlier post i mean all of us have now got egg on our faces.
On the plus side have just read the report on the Villa site of the game at Walsall and it appears Maloney is getting stuck in. Ok it is against League one opponents but im still excited by him and Stieber also sounds to be pretty good. It sounds as if Harewoods movement on and off the ball was good (getting past defenders & in good positions for crosses etc) but his final shot on goal was lacking. Still if he keeps creating the chances he will score eventually.
this is crap we cant even pull players over a team thats just come up (no disrespect to sunderland)if he is worth £9m pay £9m.I was feeling all optomistic after watching inter game now am really pissed off again and i agree with damian player should be coming cause they want to achieve things with villa not cause we have a good training ground, look at NRC worked his butt off in the freindlies thats wot we want!!!!!
Well, it's on SSN now that Gordon has signed for Sunderland.
Sounds distinctly like you Villans didn't meet the asking price so he was told by Hearts not to travel to Brum. Good job too, I would have been distinctly worried that he wouldn't sign for us if he had talked to MON.
craig gordon has definitely signed for sunderland it is on skysports news he has signed for 9 million pounds looks like we are going to have to get jussi jaaskeleinen
Villa Rules LOL, you post every day saying you don't care about transfers anymore, I think that shows you do. Well whatever happens now Villa have been piss poor at organisation, even if we get players this week or month I agree we could potentially lose 9 points, that is so amateurish to get so close to kick off and have too small a professional squad, even the 4th division teams have a full squad ffs, and this bullshit about value for money might make some players with egos feel as if they would be seen as undervalued coming to us. To me we have signed 1 player this summer NRC and he isn't exactly world class yet, he may be but to my knowledge he isn't playing for england seniors yet, as for Harewood wearing Angels shirt that just takes the piss, as it stands right now tonight with 4 days to kick off we have taken a step backwards from this time last year. One more gripe I think the Official Villa website is shite, why is it the last place I look for information and why do they treat us the people who pay their wages like knobs giving us minimal information about the players WE pay for. rargh rargh rargh
Sorry Damien I know what you mean. We're all starting to get a bit desperate now. I suppose we're just clutching at straws at this stage but I'm just trying to figure out why Gordon would pick Sunderland over us. It's been a long, relatively disappointing summer on the footballing front but the recent win over Inter and our late push for transfers has somewhat lifted my spirits and I felt sure that we would get Gordon. But now it looks like he'll be another of many targets over the summer that we are going to miss out on another target and I don't think it's good enough.
Craig has signed it on ssn
at JimmyD
it's still an IF he's signed but from what i'm getting villa were trying to haggle over price so hearts told gordon there was no deal in place at villa
if anything i'm just pissed off (i dont normally swear) because we've got all this crap from the club about world class players and significant funds but what happens?
players need to be in for pre-season!!! not 3 days before kick off or actually during the season
core values: well, i'm not seeing much of it and the club made such a big thing out of it ...
Well, there you have it - the dreggs of our squad cant even beat f******g Walsall (No offence to Walsall, we must have been shit though!)... The strength and depth of our thread-bare squad plain for all to see!!!!!
2 injuries early on in the season and we are f****d!
...plus I'm already crapping it over the fact we are gonna have to put up with Taylor in goal for a bit! He's f*****g crap! So's Tommy!
i wonder wot plan B is????
headline on bbc website SUNDERLAND BEAT VILLA TO SIGNING OF GORDON how shit does that sound
CANT BELIEVE IT THERE GOING TO GET RELEGATED AND ONCE THEY DO AND THERE BACK IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP HE BE THINKING TO HIMSELF WHY DIDNT I JOIN ASTON VILLA THEN I BE IN THE PREMIERSHIP STILL AND IN EUROPE IM SUCH A ****HEAD
Plan B??- Marton Fulop our Hungarian international keeper threatened to leave if he couldn't get first team football??
I have a feeling that gordon was plan B, with Jussi being plan A but that seems to have gone a bit quiet of late... plan C however will more than likely take place and drag on throughout the whole of the January transfer window! LIKE ALL THE OTHER SIGNINGS!
I have just been on the safc website and there is no news of craig gordon signing for them. so maybe just maybe we will do what we did to wigan haha !!!
can sum 1 please tell me what is goin on cuz i dont ave a clue all i get is that grodon has signed for sunderland but they dont say why he ent spoke to villa
what gets on my tits is that this was an opportunity to sign a top quality player, if he just didn't want to come then thats fair enough, but if it is our club fannying about again then thats shite, this player has been available all summer for that price, so what is the point to waiting and not rushing, and not panic buying, its all total crap, if we had gone in for him or any other of our so called top quality signings at the begining of the transfer window and offered the asking prices, we would have been set for the kick off on sat, as it is we are seriously short of bodies, and if sunderland are a more attractive prospect to players than us, i can't see us getting any quality in!!! who are these so called quality players, hoyte? I'm sorry but that don't cut it with me, he is really not that good, i'm sure west ham will have a reserve keeper we can buy of them! >:(
an almighty villanz thts what i faught
;D i wish
Taylor honestly i dont care no more about the transfers
One question i wonna ask everyone and maybe if damian cold do a poll on this id be greatful
Do you think martin has left it to late
And
Has he missed targets he says no but when u think about it he is bound to say that aint he i think he has missed em because he dosnt realise that these days u have to pay over the odds for a quialty player chelsea man u liverpool arsenal spurs west ham and many others have proved this
if the offical Sunderland site is anything like ours then it wont be on there. Anyway there is no offical announcement yet but it was on BBC sport and they are usually spot on.
It wont be on the offical Villa site either as it has never been confirmed by MON that he made a bid.
I was on a high all today & yesterday thinking we would get Gordon and more players would follow. Now im down about Villa for the moment.
Forget debating with Sunderland fans; deep down they know that this is unusual - I will not even go in to the detail...
What we must now focus upon is the fact that we have undoubtably been miss-led by the club over the last few months; I know that there will be some die hard somewhere who will react to this with the usual "MON knows what he is doing" - unfortunately we have not a clue what he or Aston Villa are doing right now - Clubs pushing for success with cash rich owners do not loose out to newly promoted teams - this simply does not happen.
There has been no communication from the club and it makes me sad when I look through the postings and can feel for everyone in total disbelief at what is unfolding before us.
If anyone within the club can get this genuine message through then please make the point from us all that "Aston Villa have a responsibility to manage the supporters expectations" we dont really care about value for money when the club has spent less than anyone else in the premiership in terms of net P & L.
Personally I feel a little embarraced and Im sure this applies to many others; at the end of the day we have been around alot longer than the management team (including the board) and this is clearly visible.
OH GOD... IT IS TRUE... IT'S TOP STORY ON SKY SPORTS SIGHT... WHAT A KICK IN THE BOLLOCKS!
GUTTED, GUTTED, GUTTED!!!!
What is going on at the Villa? I honestly believed we were going to spend big this summer and bring in some real quality. instead we've sat back and watched other clubs snap up all the talent.
We've missed a trick with our policy of looking for value for money as there's no such thing in this league. Marlon harewood is not value for money at 4m and although i rate NRC 8.5m is still pricy.
I really want to believe in this BRIGHT FUTURE but surely it would have made more sense to ensure new players were in before releasing the players who were deemed surplus to requirements.
We are 3 days away from facing a very good Liverpool side who have invested heavily and WE DON'T HAVE A RIGHT BACK!!
You simply cannot start the season with such a small squad. MON said himself last season that his squad was too small and that's why we struggled, well by my reckoning he's going to need at least 5 new players and that will only bring us on a par with last season.
Does anyone else feel as frusrated as i do?
I think we have 1 of the best manager's in game and a good chairman, i just hope they haven't left it too late.
everybody will be still saying mon takes his time and doesn't panic buy, well i think he will be panic buying now, how stupid can someone be to sell the amount of players he has with obviously no players in place ready to come in!!! he has left it to late, if there are any quality players left, why would their clubs sell, with very little time to bring in replacements?
HERE WE ARE AGAIN. Why cant you people just be positive fans. Every time i come on here there is someone having a go at the club/team/manager. Would you prefer O'Leary was still manager??
O'neill has done nothing but help the club since he came in. Ashley Young is gonna come good this season, Moore is going to start banging in the goals and all I can see is us going forward.
All this moaning and bitterness is doing nothing but bring down the morale of the fan base.
If MON had of bought ten players you all would have been singing his praises before we've even played a match. And if he had of over spent with loadsa players they probably wouldnt have gelled. As it is we have signed a hard working midfielder, and for me a decent squad player, who if you remember scored a hat rick against us two years ago. By only signing two players they can slip into the squad easily and become part of the team.
VILLA WILL COME GOOD.
Lets show some more positivity people. After all we are VILLA FANS are we not.
Show some fate. We've got an excellent young team that are going places.
For me MON is doing the best job as a Villa Manager in a long time.
SO ALL YOU NEGATIVE FOLK, IF YOU CALL YOURSELVES FANS SHOW SOME BLOODY SUPPORT.
1 more thing, if we don't sign a keeper by Saturday and Taylor gets injured in the build up who's going in goal?
Both us and sunderland still haven't mentioned anything Harewood agreed terms with Wigan but still signed for us its not a done deal till the dotted line is signed on maybe and I really hope Im right he will be in Birmingham 2moro before he has signed anything...I hope Im right......
its hard not to feel let down zizou4villa but its the same old villa in transfer market and if we do get a couple of injuries where do we go then
Zizou4Villa are you shaggin MON? I'm sorry but you are talking total dog shite!
We play Liverpool on Saturday with a duff keeper, no right back and a Striker (if he starts) who couldn't score in a brothel!
Step into the real world sunshine - we're f****d!
must admit nothing on sunderlands official website yet
u never know
I still think we can do decent this season if we dont bring anybody in before January. I refuse to think we are "f****d" i still think our first 11 is definatly in the top half of the table. If we can keep fairly injury free. Im nowhere near as happy as i could be or thought i would be before the start of the transfer window but i still trust MON. In my opinion it is better that he not pay way over for crap and have no-one than use being ripped off.
I know how all the negative people are feeling but these things are just being said in the heat of the moment. Im still positive about the coming season dispite what a blow missing out on Gordon is. Young looks really good and i expect him to prove his doubters wrong.
I may be the only one saying it at the moment but UP THE VILLA!
4 Alwaysvilla
shouldn change the fact that we will still support them. MON has done a great job since this time last year. Its the best year ive seen since Atletico beat us. New owner, new manager, moved up 5 positions since the year before. Only lost 10 games last season, which only the top 3 did any better. The Blue Noses are comin back for a whoopin. so id say things are looking up.
MON has only spoken when needed, ie signings or to instill some
belief in the negativity going around about lack of transfers.
If sjneider signed tomo, people would forget and forgive.
IN MARTIN I TRUST
I take your point Zizou4villa and accept that MON is doing an excellent job. I also agree that we have some of the best youngsters in england, however i would like to have seen more activity in the transfer market. It was after all Richard Fitzgerald who talked about substancial funds and world class players. The club built the fans up and sold season tickets on the back of BIG talk. It's time to deliver on those promises
ok zizou4villa i'm now on an upper
COME ON VILLA
Yeah why not.
UP THE VILLA!!!!!!!
Well i suppose that I am one of the "Negative people" you describe hey flabby??
You've gotta remember that all this frustration and negativity is born out of passion for the club we all love! We all want to see Villa, MON & Randy do well but some of us are more realist than others!
I feel more frustated at the quotes that have flown around the club of late about "quality signings"... the club are the ones who have given us this high, given the fans hope (call it what you will), only to let us down when it comes to the crunch!
I personally feel cheated into buying a season ticket, like I did when Doug was around! And that aint good!
talk 107 reported bout 1230 that villa had not agreed a deal with hearts.it looks like villa have not had permission to talk or gordon has not bothered to come to brum.reporter on wm told daz hale that he was keen on north east cos of the location.hope we get carson but cant see he will sign before sat
If we go into Saturdays match with 1 GK and no right back then Oneil should resign in my opinion.
would we not pay asking price?
doins schlong r u pissed!!!
dions_schlong
"If we go into Saturdays match with 1 GK and no right back then Oneil should resign in my opinion."
are you a smack-head?
LINK
This link has it that it's only a verbal agreement.
dions_shlong is winding you all up ...
please dont rise to the bait
any news from safc.com yet? official statements yet? hopefully not!!!!
if we go into Saturdays match with 1 GK and no right back then he should resign in my opinion. if that was oleory we would making a huge deal out of it!
How can you go into anew season with 1 dodgy GK and no right back-it is outragous!!!!and no one can deny that!!!!
I'm not going to pay attention to the comment about MON resigning cause it's ridiculous!!
We are now at the point where any signings will be panick buys. We have left it too late and we must learn from this in the next transfer window.
Woodinho i am also upset at the lack of players brought in and all these players being linked to us and none of happening. I do feel negative and am passionate about our club. I see exactly where you are coming from but i think you saying we were "f****d" was abit far. If we get alot of bad luck then we may just go down (by bad luck i mean alot of injuries.)
There is no point it being negative though as we cant change anything (except the club we support which i dont think any of us would do) and we need to get behind the players as our support can lift the team. I too feel abit cheated but i am still positive about next seasons outcome. I am a realist aswell and it is realistic to be sure of our premiership survival at least.
january transfer window is wen most panic buys happen
alwaysvilla,
Not this year mate, it will be august!!! ;D ;D ;D
Flabster, by f****d I was talking about the Liverpool game alone, I think they will rip us apart at the back to be honest! I think the first 11 is capable of beating all the teams in the lower half of the table and staying up... relegation is not even an option in my personal view.
But, this summer was supposed to be about building, strengthening and high quality signings... in retrospect we have crumbled (by that i mean players have left instead of joined), weakened and made low quality signings.
Thats about as realist as I can be!
but still, COME ON YOU VILLA BOYS!
only half way through week MON could turn it all around on the signing front by friday.....................here's hoping :D :D :D :D
UP THE VILLA
I agree we have been let down so far with all the signings we were promised. I still think we can get a result against Liverpool. We usually earn a draw and think that we can gain 1 point on saturday.
This is the worst i have felt about Villa in a long while but i know it will pick up again. Hopefully MON can make a signing tomrrow (curtis Davis would be amazing) to lift all our spirits again.
Lets hope so! A draw will probably feel like a victory given the circumstances!!!!!! ;)
God help em if anyone high up in the club reads on here lol
I think there might just be a few boos at the liverpool game
>:( >:( >:(
Dont be silly, they'd never read this, we're just the fans remember!
Would be nice if they did though, they'd choke on their prawn sandwiches then! (sorry to mention a Roy Keane quote!) ;D
But when you get Barry and Cahill worried about lack of signings as well then what's that all about, imagine rooney or gerrard or lamps saying they were worried we haven't enough players before kick off, that's how far behind we are realistically. Sure we won't get relegated but we won't bloody win anything either and after 13 years I want to win something not just qualify for sidding europe, or is that to much to ask of my club to win anything? the thing is out of the players we do have, Berger and Laursen will definitely be injured within a month, maybe we will get some one else but really it is to late to be professional.
ps what did Harewood play like?
Villa_Rules
I hope the board and management DO read this blog and the comments. If they know what the fans think and want they might be a bit more communicative (I haven't been down the pub so I can spell long words!!)
It's a far cry from the beginning of the summer when rumours sites linked us with Diego Forlan, Wesley Sjneider and many other truly world class players. I've spent the summer trawling the web for anything vaguely Villa related just because of the lack of real action.
Did anyone from the Club actually use the phrase "world class players"?
Poor quality signings? for me the two signings we have made have been good - OK so Harewood is not exactly setting the world alight but he is a squad player, and like for like with Carew.. And in Reo-coker we have signed someone with great ability and someone I'm sure will have a great season this year - his displays in the U21 championships, pre-season, and other than the middle part of last year for West Ham have been great. A friend of mine who happens to be a Cov fan has seen him a few times this pre-season and has completely changed his opinion of him (despite the fact they are only friendlies), after saying he would of rather had Scott Parker than out on NRC..
Anyways i look forward to a good season as long as we get a right back center back and keeper before the start of the season!
UTV
shite like a girl by all accounts ;D
timesonline has an article timed at 23.10 which states that Gordon is still coming to talk with us in the morning, but the article also mentions interest from Manure.
why are people so harsh about harewood. he did nothing wrong and looked decent in parts. this was a meaningless friendly with our second string side and harewood never got the service. the game meant less than all the other friendlies we have played. give him a blooody chance and stop getting on his back until we have a decent idea of what his capabilities are.
also reo coker is not average. his performances pre season have been remarkable, notably against inter. he was only made a scapegoat last year as he was captain and his influence on the pitch inspires performances out of the rest of the players.
im not happy about the lack of transfer activity and am bitterly disappointed by our failure to get gordan but life goes on. keep the faith. its a 5 year plan, not a quick fix like west ham!
clutching at straws maybe, but no news on sunderland or hearts website yet, hopefully theres a hold up. like MON personally visit CG
Because he is crap!
Seriously WTF! why does everyone beat us to signings, we must be the slowest moving football club out there! its embarrassing that Gordon has chosen a newly promoted team over us, what a nightmare. this season wont be what everyone is hoping/expecting. lucky if we will finish top 10 with this tiny squad.
I think harewood is purely cover for carew and he wont be in the starting 11, however i do believe he will improve on last season with the help of Martin " MR Motivator" Oneil, with the help of our coaches and our new facilities i could see him scoring about 10 next season. We shouldnt hold a grudge against marlon because he had a bad season, most of west ham did. He has come here for a fresh challenge and he hasnt done anything wrong for villa yet.
That smugness "if we've made an approach, then surely we're the favourites to sign him" has come back to slap you in the face, deservedly so. You're not bigger than Sunderland. Can't hold a candle support-wise. Craig Gordon has proved his intelligence with the right move. I'm over the moon. Looking forward to scoring a few past Sorrensen in a couple of game this season, too.
untill i see him wit a sunderland shirt i wont believe he is gone look wot happend wit harewood
The reason we lost out wasn't because he wanted to join sunderland over us. it was because villa were haggling over a fee and Hearts didn't give permission for us to talk to him. In the mean time whilst were were trying to negotiate a fee Gordan had agreed terms with Sunderland. I heard that from one of Gordans representatives phoning talk sport. It was straight from the horses mouth. We lost out due to old habbits dying hard. I could have sworn ellis left last year too!!!! :'(
i've just been on hearts website and sunderlands and nither one says anything about gordon signing for sunderland so its seems he has only agreed verbaly to sign for sunderland according to media reports it dont seem a done deal yet but i am a villa fan and hope sundeland sign him i watched him play hes ok but not tested against better players some of the shots he has saved were down to pure luck or shite shooting etc... so would much prefer to go after a different keeper i think gordon will be a big mistake at 9m for any side he signs for very over rated!
utv
Well, what Ive read is that he was supposed to be coming down to the Villa but he never even made it down to Villa Park, so the poor lad doesn't even know what he's missing out on. he can't be the sharpest tool in the box if he doesn't look at all the options before making a descision and just go for the first thing he sees. At least at Sunderland he'll see lots of action as I reckon he's probably going to have to make more saves than most keepers in the premier league this season. This deal may just keep Sunderland in the top flight......
CG is a muppet of epic proportions for choosing sunderland over us! Especially if he didn't make the trip to even see us and if his move is confirmed i hope he has a release clause in his contract cos Sunderland WILL get relegated! ;D

- Aston Villa have finished as the Football League's best supported club on no fewer than 7 occasions, whereas Sunderland have never finished as the League's best supported club:
Man Utd 34;
Everton 13;
Arsenal 12;
Newcastle/Chelsea 10;
Aston Villa/Liverpool 7;
Spurs 6;
Man City 3.
Sunderland fans disappear when they dont get results.FACT
Oh bollards. Its always sweet when you are in the driving seat!
;)
Dont think hes signed for Sunderland yet... Nothing on their official site and i guess they would be pretty quick to anounce it... Heres hoping..
Both big clubs in their own right, probably keano swung it and the fact we are just down the road, hope villa have a good season always liked them definitely top dogs in the Midlands.
He hasn't signed yet, he's set to soon though, according to bbc.co.uk and i don't think they'd say it without 99% knowledge of the topic.
Unfortunate but hey, there's still 50,000 goalkeepers out there.
Besides, Taylor might give MON a reason to stop his hunt for keepers.
get in !!!!
We are in a great position , Coolest manager on planet with a chairman who is loved by the fans. God bless Drumaville and lets have a right go at these "big" clubs this season .HAWAY THE LADS 8)
The BBC only put their article up after we'd announced the Talk 107 story. In fact, after we put it up it began to appear on Talk Sport, 5 Live and a number of other websites.
It might just be Talk 107 jumped the gun. There's an outside chance he could be at Bodymoor Heath/Villa Park as we speak.
