The source that broke the news yesterday that Craig Gordon had signed for Sunderland, talk 107, are now backtracking and saying he's only shaken hands on the deal. Could this still happen?
talk 107 are now saying it's not a done deal but an agreement. How many times have we seen agreements in football break down? Maybe there is a chance for us to get our hands on the Hearts keeper.
Last night it was 'signed for Sunderland' and today it's shaken hands. Is there a chance? I'm not so sure but it's quick backtracking by the radio station.
I'm probably clutching at straws here and he's probably just waiting for the contracts to be sorted before singing on the dotted line, but hell, we need a keeper and I've not seen any photo's of him in the shirt.

SkySports News said he has signed and so has Niall Quinn! Surely Quinn wouldn't have come on telly bigging up his latest transfer without it being concrete! If he has jumped the gun he's gonna look a right twat!
ye lol i dont believe it every newstation said it was done
....thats if he doesnt join the mackems obviously! ;D
Well like I said earlier the sun said he has signed so that is surely proof he hasn't.
LINK
he hasnt signed else he would be on tht list
If he hasnt i think its only a matter of hours before he dose one thing im not getting tho is this
The orignal so called plan was he speant 2days with sunderland to talk terms and have a medical
then
Come to villa for 2days talk terms and have a medical then after that he would decide
I have no clue whats going on anymore as im not really keeping track of it and transfer are to wierd these days not like ten years ago when u just bid give player a medical and all was done
I heavent heard anyone state "he has signed" and I've wathced, listened and read every media item on the matter since 7.30 this morning (sad I know!). They have all said he has agreed to sign. Entirely different things. Everyone should wait.
plllllllllzzz does anyone know where i can watch the highlights from wallshall and inter
Just saw the Quin interview and he didnt mention Gordon. The sunderland site says he is at VP now.Go on their site click on rumour mill.
It hasn't been confirmed on the Sunderland website and a few transfers have fallen through after apparently being 'done deals' (e.g. Mido for Blues, Harewood for Wigan, Tevez for Man U etc)
Steve Bruce looked like a right idiot after saying he was going to get the best out of Mido and it was a great signing etc etc (ha ha!).
You just never know until you see them unveiled at a press conference (or, in the case of David Unsworth, seeing out a season!).

talk 107 said he had signed last night ...
i could if you want, as i took a screen shot, display the image for you?
Why aren't we breaking the bank to sign Carson instead? I'm sure Gordon is good, but I fancy that I could keep clean sheets in the Scottish Prem (no offence Gretna fans, it's just what I think).
Whatever, nice of Villa Park to keep us informed.
If we're still hoping that CG hasn't signed, then the best proof is that CG nor his agent has ever said anything about an agreement to sign or not. If the media were completely sure they wouldn't say "BBC understands he has agreed" etc, and they would have probably gotten a quote from CG or his agent... or even Quinny. As yet, no one has actually said anything. It could well be that the BBC and SSN are just putting 2 and 2 together that he has supposedly had a medical, and he's been there for two days now. But if we all look back to Monday, the BBC "understood" that he was gonna spend two days at SOL then two days at VP. In fairness, we haven't heard anything for us to not believe that. Clutching at straws i know, but who knows...it could happen.
LOL @ alfred
Taglor never expect villa to keep ya informed only time ull here anythink is when someone has actually signed :D
Firstly, Craig Gordan is the best keeper in the market at the minute, alot better than Scott Carson.
Secondly Sunderland came out saying they had signed Nugent and Baines, they both broke down. Niall Quinn new to owning a football club obviously gets a little to excited.
Thirdly, If a deal was done and an agreement made by both club and party (CG) then he would have signed within the last 48 hours. There is something still in this i am sure. Im not confident but i dont think Gordan has definately made up his mind about his future premiership club.
i think he has actually signed cause last night i got in from the villa vs walsall game put skysports news on and it said craig gordon signs a five-year contranct at sunderland all day today on skysports news it has been going on about craig gordon and showed you him leaving the sunderland ground it said that he had completed his move would love villa to sign him but think he has signed for sunderland
I agree Ayersey, I don't think it is finalised, but it will be something more exciting than whatever craps on tv tonight.
Im a sunderland supporter and its in our local paper that we signed him. He also been training with us today hes doubtfull for sat game with a shoulder injury.
Dazzy hope he dose well for you and dont worry us villa fans are used to loseing out on targets we put up with it for so many years now
thats paper talk tho mate u no what papers are like thy are b****x
International clearance between the sfa and the fa is the only thing holding up the gordon deal according to goal.com.Keane speaks about him having the number 1 jersey.I hope not but i think the deal for villa is well dead. unless we do a harewood like we did to wigan.
I wish we had let wigan have harebrain
Sky Sports tend to be accurate with such news but i do hope they've dropped a bollock on this one and hope MON can persuade him to join!
Don't worry everyone, just go to the official Villa homepage and I am sure they will explain the situation for us Villa fans who have been promised the earth and have 2 signings with 3 days to go, they have openness, integrity, commitment and togetherness, unless I'm mistaken and those are just soundbites to sound good
I was wondering why Gordon would choose Sunderland over Villa! hopefully we can sign him if this is true. i think that mon may have learned a lesson this summer about his transfer dealings, but he has my full support any day any time.

you're sounding like me ... slow down chap ;)
Do i detect a hint of sarcasm taglor? ;)
craig gordon has gone to sunderland nyron nosworthy was speaking to sky sports news saying that gordon is a good signing and will be fantastic for them
belive it when we see him in sunderland kit not listening to media hype from a championship player in an interview. saying he will be a good signing nobody has seen or heard from him since yesterday afternoon when sky filmed him coming out of sunderland training ground doors part from speculation nothing from hearts nothing from sunderland website officaly clarification nor from cg himself so till he gives first interview and unvailed as a sunderland player, he aint a sunderland player!

i love it, i love it
sorry guys but it is official. Its on the sunderland website which i can honestly say doesn't bother me one bit!
Jaaskelainen and Carson both PROVEN premiership goalkeepers for half the price, sounds better to me!
thank god its official now we can concentrate on another keeper with proven prem xperience
reading MON quotes on the villa website i cant see us signing anybody this week he is quite happy to go into sat game with current squad but will be looking to strenghten b4 deadline
There u go its all confirmed now gordon HAS signed for sunderland
The villa website makes me laugh... how many times have they said "The Villa boss is re-doubling his efforts to bolster the squad"??? Are they trying to say he didnt give it his full attention before? Or that he has "redoubled his efforts" so much that he has actually redouble-double-double-doubled his efforts?
Which ever the case, it obviously is not enough! PULL YOUR F*****G FINGER OUT MARTIN! You are a great manager but shite in the transfer market! There is a reason Harewood was nearly at Wigan... he is shit! Get some "quality signings" in Villa coz we look like a laughing stock!
True woodinhio villa as a club and villa fans do look like a laughing stock even blues fans would have a right to laugh at us now its that bad
Here come some villa fans to whinge over my message even tho deep down every single villa is worried and fed up
Our transfer strategy has backfired spectacularly. I can't understand why Villa have waited so long to splash the cash - sure I can understand MON's frustration at inflated prices but we need to be aggresive in the transfer market to secure the right deals. I don't like paying nearly a quid for a litre of petrol but I can't avoid it! Its the going rate and the same applies in the transfer market.
My concern is that we are now going to panic buy and clubs are going to sting us on players prices because they know we are desperate. What a big avoidable mess.
am i alone in thinking mon is playing a game of russian roulette with our club. he reckons to have his transfer targets, he says he's got the funds, he seems quite confident on getting these players and i realy hope he does, but here are a few 'what-if's', what if these players can't agree personel terms, what if the clubs can't agree a fee, what if the targets get hijacked by other clubs or what if the players simply don't want to come to the villa, and here's the biggest 'what if', what if he runs out of time.
surley it would have made more sense to get your targets first, then off load the surplus, would we all feel a little happier if we still had ridgewell, davis, angel, hughes & hendry as back-up's, just in case the 'what if's pop up.
i just hope mon knows what he's doing, but it seems a little risky to me, why take the risk, he didn't need to.
bye the way, wev'e still got enough to turn the red spanish armada over on satuday. c'mon you villa boy's!!!!!!!
I'm with ya man! i think Ridgewell epecially! and Davies goin were a big mistake if we've no-one else in! say what ye want but i think the club have let us all down this summer and its their own fault for building up our expectations! , in fairness ya cant just look at Reo-coker (Who i rate very highly!) and Harewood! young Carew etc... have to be included in our in-box!!!, but the lack of comunication between club and fans has been Nil! we will have more signings in the next 2 weeks but it will be 2 little 2 late for most of us! we've been kept in the Dark all summer long , we've all spent a lot of time and Money on this club and i Believe we should gt some feedback , now Don't get me wrong i'm a firm Believer in the 5 yr plan and wont be 2 upset if we Don't make europe next Season but i Really think the club should talk to the Fans a bit More , We've all been like a bunch of MANIACs this summer , been at each others throuts over minor isues , our 5 yr plan looks great , our young players look outstanding , and if thats all there is then Fine , but please someone put some closure on the issue! , if gordans gone , and Davies is yet another Rumour , Liverpool will Destroy us ( although Torres in my opinion will be flop of the season) !!! sorry for being negative , I hope i'm wrong!!!!!!!!!!
gordon has signed check skysports. oh well lets just get some players in ffs.
I am a Hearts fan but my favourite emglish team is the villa. Take it from me, Martin O'Neil had the opportunity to get Craig Gordon (as did anyone else alert enough) months ago. He is a fantastic goalkeeper who is probably already the best in Britain. The Mackams gain is villa's loss ........ he could be the difference between them staying up or going down.
Anyway, forever the optimist I am absolutely convinced that we will challenge for a top 6 spot this yaer!
