The manager has now officially become a muppet as far as I'm concerned and I'd suggest it was about time that a 'gag order' be placed on him by the club and he was told to concentrate on his job, which is in case he has forgotten, is to manage the team!
If I were a player at Villa I'd not be inspired or filled with confidence by this man and if I were a player at another club I wouldn't want to play for him. He only ever seems to moan and the football isn't very good either!
Every other week last season he spouted the same garbage and now because he was ridiculed about it, he's spouting different garbage everytime he gets near a reporter.
Apparently, according to the email, David O'Leary hasn't got any names on his list and he doesn't expect anyone to sign. Well David, I was under the impression you employed an old friend of yours as chief scout - what's he being doing for the past three years?
He goes on to say that he only has 'a bit of money' and for that nobody is available. What exactly did he mean by 'substantial funds' that he was so happy to talk about back in April? Was it just another ploy from the board to get season tickets sold and why is David O'Leary acting so bloody negative about it now?
In my opinion, the muppet hasn't being a great manager at Villa. Sure he got us to 6th in his first season but I put that down to 'new manager syndrome' and clubs around us not doing as well as they should have. Last season was probably a more realistic finish for this manager.
We shouldn't forget that in every full season he was at Leeds his team finished in a worse position than the one before and that was after spending more money - and in the end he did get the sack!
He had his pick of players back then and still couldn't do it so why should we expect him to do it now?
David O'Leary has no 'real' football management experience and him becoming manager of Aston Villa was just another way for Doug to appease the fans.
We all could have managed Leeds with the team left to him by George Graham and the ability to go and buy any player we wanted to. Real football management experience comes from managing players, developing players and adopting your own style and playing tactics.
David O'Leary has never demonstrated to me that he knows how to do any of this.
Note: I want to clearly state that all these views on the manager are my opinions only. Please do not send in emails slagging me off as we're all allowed them.
It would be nice however if the manager concentrated on what he is supposed to do. Sure we always want to add talent to the squad but before bringing in players surely he should get the best out of the ones he has got first and be positive about the club.
