If ever there was a manager capable of making an excuse out of nothing then David O'Leary is that man. He's made recent comments about not wanting to be making comments about the on-off sale of Aston Villa plc but continues to answer the questions and if I'm not mistaken it looks like he's using the apparent uncertainty as another excuse for Villa's poor season.
If O'Imafool said 'no comment' every time he was asked about the takeover the press would soon stop or at least they wouldn't be publishing anything from him about it. The problem is O'Isacrapmanager would rather spend time with his allies in the press than on the training ground with his players, or so this seasons performances and his media coverage this year would suggest.
O'Illnevermissanopportunity said recently "Like the fans and everyone else, I'm hoping something positive can happen so we can stop having to answer these questions about the future of the club.
"It would be lovely to come back in the summer and everyone s concentrating on the football - and to not get asked about the future. The longer it continues, the more the uncertainty grows.
"James Milner has come to me and said he wants to stay with us after this season - but he also wants to know what is happening with the club.
"There is that kind of thing cropping up, that constant same thing cropping up.
"That's the attitude and I keep being asked the same thing about the future. What I've been hearing since Christmas is to keep the club safe until something happens."
I wish O'Leary would just stop talking about it. He knows nothing or is that last to know, or so he has told us, so why can't he just say 'no comment', better still why can't he say 'I quit' instead of turning the on-off takeover into another reason why he's failed as a manager?
