Mark Delaney has attacked the Villa board and David O'Leary for only extending his contract until the end of next season.
MD is disappointed - and so he should be - that he hasn't been rewarded for his service with a longer contract, particularly as he'll only be 30 when his contract expires.
DOL has admitted that his injuries have prevented him from being offered a longer deal.
As a few readers of the Blog have informed me, MD isn't injury prone so maybe this confirms MD's thoughts that he's not in O'Leary's long-term plans.
MD's proved himself as a versatile centre-back but I think O'Leary wants someone even better. But as we have no summer transfer budget (O'Leary said we couldn't afford ?3.5m earlier today) it looks like MD is needed more than he is wanted.
