Doug pleads with fans to buy season tickets

Saturday, 13 May 06, 12:48 PM · Comments (0)

In what can only be described as desperate chairman Doug Ellis is pleading with fans to stick by Aston Villa.

he told the official website this morning "I can only ask supporters to work with me and ask them to continue supporting the club. Everything is determined by what happens on the pitch. The manager has a big staff, a very competent staff.

"The league figures don't lie and I am forecasting there will be a big difference next year. And I am desperate for it."I suppose you can call it a transitional period but it is not entirely this year, it is something I have been planning over a number of years.

what Doug Ellis clearly doesn't understand is the supporters have given O'Leary a chance and it's not getting better. The manager has lied to us on more than one occasion.

He is right that 'everything is determined by what happens on the pitch' and that is exactly why the vast majority want him gone. What we are seeing on the pitch, week in week out is abysmal. I can watch better football in the lower divisions than what I've seen at Villa Park the last two seasons.

David O'Leary must go for the fans to come back to Villa Park. He's probably right about seeing differences next season. It's highly unlikely that O'Leary will match what he's done this season. We'll either be relegated or finish a few places better off; still not good enough for a manager who has had three seasons and enough cash to be in the top eight.

If Doug wants the fans to come back then he has to fire David O'Leary; simple.
