FA Cup prediction: Manchester City and Darius Vassell travel to Villa Park

Thursday, 16 February 06, 08:05 PM · Comments (0)

I'm nervous about this match. Probably because it's all we've got to play for this season and it's so important for Aston Villa.

We've played City seven times in the FA Cup, lost four and only won twice. Darius Vassell will be returning to Villa Park for the first time since he left in the summer and I've got a feeling he'll get a good reception. A bad one and he could be the one to end Villa's run in the oldest tournament in football.

I'm not going to make this a lengthy post so I'll get straight to my prediction. Despite our home form this season I think we're going to turn it around this weekend as we're due some blarney from the manager and winning this match will give him all the ammunition he needs to start talking about how we should be doing that each week.

Psycho Pearce will bring his team to Villa Park in the right frame of mind and they will be up for it but without Andrew Cole I think they're going to be missing the one player that could win it for them.

Vassell is a good player but I think the Villa defenders know his game to well and I don't think they'll make the same mistakes they made at the City of Manchester stadium earlier in the season and with Luke Moore firing on all cylinders we'll be too much for them.
