hmmmm andy johnson - anti climax. wud rather hav lennon any day.

I think Johnson is not the way forward however with the right delivery from young and bentley/SWP/Milner/Lennon/Routledge and the MON he may very well be our 20 goal a season man, however i do think there ae better out there and available.

Wouldn't say no to Anton or Lennon but Andrew Johnson is not the quality of player we should be going for. We've only been linked with him because he's English I reckon.

i looked at the rumour mill link and it says:

Wud love lennon even if he was a bench warmer things hes a very good one at that. we could use like lennon like arsenal do with walcott and bring on even more pace. wouldnt mind ferdinand but no to andy johnson sorry. however i just want us to buy someone so i gess i wudnt mind nyone right now.

dont think andy johnson would come to us anyway, he hates us, he's an ex blue-nose and he knows the fans will hate him. (unless he scores a hatrick in each of his first 5 games.)

i reckon lennon would b very goos signin and aj is a good back up and does bring alot of pase which mon is lookin for if we can get him playin like he did at palace hed b a good signing but id rather have darren bent and anton is 1 for the future defo bring him in

Johnson...Don't know that I'm all that keen on the idea, but I'm assuming that if MON is interested, he sees him doing some sort of job.

I don't know enough about Johnson, however. I guess the question I'd ask is whether he's got the touch to score if he was getting service? Would he make a good poacher?

My god, we dont want johnson of ferdinand..!! Why sell Cahill and then replace him with crap (that includes Knight). Lennon would be ok if John Robertson can work on his passing and crossing..
Bentley is still the prime target, i have a feeling if Bentley signs Barry wont go...

jaf I hear you, if we could get Bentley then Barry may think twice. Ferdinand would be a good buy (remember how annoyed we got when we bought Harewood and he banged in more this season than the likes of Baros did the whole tim he was at the club). I really do think we should be in for Ronaldhino, especially if Man City are. He needs someone to get his career back on track and MON is the man for that (have no doubt). Well I want to see something, I renewed my season tickets yesterday and I'm expecting good signings.

The worst striker is heskey and Baros mate, AJ would not be that bad we were like this with Harewood and he's been what we needed like ole gunner for manu (supersub) so i am prepared to give him benifit of doubt

once again people this talk of signing all these players is great but one tiny fact still remains.....still no signings.can anyone just reasure me and tell me things will be a ok.im not normally like this but i feel we are dragging our feet a little.whos to be qustioned lack of money,or m.o.n. :'(

If the lack of transfer activity is due to lack of funds I'm gonna despair. I can't believe it can be that, the gate receipts last year must have been epic in comparison to years gone past. Add to that a new billionaire owner in Randy and we surely have the cash to splash. I like the idea of having Bentley, Boruc (and Guzan), Miguel, Milner and SWP or Lennon. We do still need a 20 goal a season man, I don't know who but I know that AJ ain't it. More than this though I really love the suggestion of getting Ronaldino - I know his form of late has been poor and that it's a big gamble but I think it would be a positive sign for the future. He may demand £150k-£200k a week but at the very least it shows that we really mean business and this can only show current (GB) and prospective new players that Villa is on a charge for the top four and the CL.

All that said though, we need some signings and having bought my first season ticket I really hope we get some quality in real soon. UPT :)

Please look elsewhere. Johnson is inconsistent.
If we don't sign some players, Harewood will get first team football because we won't have any choice but to play him.

Mike s. stated that Nolberto Solano has been released by west ham. Why would aston Villa want him now? He is far too old, way past his best, and if we are looking to push for top four, we dont want cast aways from midtable standard teams. He has maybe one more season in the premierleaugue but not at a top half side i feel he is just not up to it, otherwise west ham would not have released him. After all west ham have stated their interests to push forwards as well this season so if he isnt good enough for west ham, then he is definately not good enough for aston villa.

Also i feel that a lot of you who say that Aaron Lennon is just a pacey winger with 'nothing else' are not seeing the same that me, and the majority of others see. He has a great shot, and has a great eye for a pass. Would you not like to see Lennon down the right and Ashley Young down the left terrorising opposition defences cutting inside or whipping crosses into big john. I can also see marton o'neill going for a goalscorer still, to play alongside big john.
No signings as of yet are non existent and you are starting to slag off mon, but jeep the faith as blues would say. He is a good man, a second only to jesus. Sidwell is ours i think but dont panic signings will come.

F*ck Solano, he couldn't wait to clear out his locker when he heard Newcastle wanted him back..Lennon won't happen he won't want to leave London, Milner will stay at Newcastle. Bentley wont come as he wants Champions League Footy,why would he leave Blackburn for us when both if us wont get CLF for at least 2-3years. SWP no chance, Sidwell maybe, but i hold reservations as this signing has STILL not happened, i can see another team hijacking this deal...

I want Engallar that big fuc*er who plays in midfield for FC Twente and the Dutch..also how about putting in a bid for Kenwyn Jones?? Andy Johnson, i know he's played for Blues but he would be a better foyle to Carew than Gabby. Ide liked to have seen us bid for Kightly from Wolves and also Ebanks-Blake

Lennon would be a good lil player if he came 2 villa. I Could see him n young tearin through defenders nxt season. i would also welcome another striking option, in the name of ... Podolski ;D This Guy is amazing, can finish, can assist, bags of pace n flair. i Feel he would feed off john carew n he would be our 20 a season man !

I know everybody would like david bentley at VP but for me i can't stand the bloke!! I've only seen him a handfull of 90 min games!! but from what i have seen whenever he gets the chance to put a dangerous ball in from the wing, he can't beat the first man!! I can't see how he can get into the England XI in front of ashley young who score more goals and had more assists than Bentley!! Sorry but i wouldn't want him at VP personally!! I would much prefer aaron lennon!!;D As for the rumour about Andy Johnson, i would not welcome him either to VP!! I would prefer someone like Eidur Gudjohnson!! Although i don't think that we need another striker as i have a gut feeling that gabby will get 10-15 goals so will John Carew and Ashley Young will contribute 8-12 goals!! Plus we can bring through our promising striker Nathan Delfueneso (or however you spell it, sorry) and marlon can hopefully carry on the form that he produced in the 2nd half of the season!! :) Also, i believe that Paul Robinson is a good signing as i quite like him personally:)
