I hate having a go at David O'Leary these days as it's too easy but why does he come out and say what he says - more worrying is that we're starting to hear from O'Leary similar stories to what we heard about Djemba Djemba when he signed.
O'Leary told the official website"The other players have told him: 'There's the man, Freddie ? in six months' time you'll definitely be in peak condition'. The man they're talking about is fitness guru Steve McGregor who has enlisted the help of Loughborough University to put together a fitness plan for the player.
O'Leary continued "With Freddie, he's got all the attributes, but we've just got to get him toned up, and there's no better man to give him companionship on an individual basis than Steve McGregor. Freddie will love it."
I'm glad that Bouma will have a friend while the club pay him all this money to get fit and what exactly are we paying fitness guru Steve McGregor for if when he needs to get a player fit he calls in help?
Anyway, I hope it doesn't take six months but I have a strange feeling we'll be seeing a lot more JLloyd Samuel at left back sooner rather than later.
