Villa have taken Le Havre right-back Arsene Menessou on trial this week.
The 19-year-old Frenchman was on trial at Ipswich 2 weeks ago and played in two friendly games, but wasn't offered a deal.
He has been given a chance to show what he's got tonight, along with Scott Bevan, Zoltan Stieber, Shane Lowry and Stephen O'Halloran, in what is almost a reserve line up against the Saddlers.
From the early signs Stieber was running the show and forced Walsall defender Boertien to put the ball into his own net after only 6 minutes.
Bevan didn't have much to do until midway through the first half and there isn't really much for the defence to do at the moment.

I've heard both positive and negative things from people about his trial at Ipswich, but being only 19, positive things take you a lot further. It's always nice to see a new face anyway, even if it is for a week!
PS.
I'm glad you mentioned where to goal came from, I couldn't make sense of it!
Wanted; someone who can actually comprehend the Villa website written commentary.
He might not be for the first team immediately if we do sign him.
The commentary's a bit robotic xandeh!
Apparantely he's been switched to midfield now which is interesting. He's got a few crosses in by the looks of things.
He might not be for the first team immediately if we do sign him.
WHOOO LOL NEVER HEARD OF HIM THEN AGAIN THIS IS THE SAME OLD SAME OLD SIGNING LITTLE KIDS AND FORGETTING ABOUT THE FIRST TEAM SIGNINGS LOL
Just got back from the game, Stieber looked awesome a real prospect: clever passes, good pace, skill and technical ability, looks like he has some confidence too trying an audacious volley from the wing at one point forcing a corner. Shame we missed out on Gordon, don't rate Sorenson or Taylor and Bevan didn't exactly look comfortable and i think he should have saved their goal...
If the kid didn't make the grade at Ipswich, why the f**k are we looking at him, oh he's probably good value, doesn't matter that he is probably crap!! give me strength >:(
Hairy H, he didn't look too bad actually, thought he did quite reasonably although I would worry about him in the premiership, he looks lightweight although he does seem to have a fair amount of pace. And also remember we took Ben Haim on trial, turned him down, Bolton did the same afterwards and look where he is now...
Have to say I'm on a bit of a downer at the moment, really rate Gordon and would have thought he would have chosen us over Sunderland (no offense), but at the end of the day i have confidence in O'Neill and my only worry is no real RB for sats game... and even if we bring someone in before sat he surely wont be ready in time for the game.

I just can't see how signing him would move the club forward, i haven't seen him play, but tonight he played against walsall and you said he looked a bit lightwieght, how would he fair against the likes or ronaldo and joe cole etc.... is he really any better than hughes? surely if we sell a player it is to make room for someone better, i don't really think hoyte is that good yet either! only my opinion though. what do you think?
I agree he wouldn't be that suitable, seems more of an attacking fullback than anything else and i doubt if we did sign him he would be first team, and as he's only 19 you would probably expect him to join up with the reserves, was really just in response to the not good enough for Ipswich comment. As for Hughes i didn't rate him either, steady away would probably be the best description, but he was a bit of a liability in defense and not exactly great going forward.
And again agree with you on the Hoyte thing, the rumour on this site for a while and a few others is Bosingwa, however it is exactly that.. a rumour. I have seen him play a few times and think he's a good player, i think it would take him a while to settle but on the other hand i simply can't see it happening.
I think a large problem with our dealings in the transfer market is as far as scouting is concerned we only seem to have Scandinavia covered, and even then we miss talent (Pederson anyone - although we were supposedly interested..) unlike Tottenham for example.
Im just not all that confident in the signings (if there are any) that we are going to make in the next few weeks, for e.g although Curtis Davis is a big improvement on Ridgewell he is still fairly unproven.
Negativity aside.. UTV
Seems he'd be for the reserves if we did buy him, although if we were to buy him i doubt we'd buy another RB so he'd have to play cover for Delaney...or Cahill/Gardner like we did on the US & Canada tour.
