Gareth Barry, Gareth Barry, my job for a Gareth Barry

Tuesday, 29 May 07, 03:04 PM · Comments (6)

Rio Ferdinand and Michael Dawson have pulled out of the England squad to face Brazil and Estonia because of groin injuries.

With Gary Neville, Ashley Cole and Jonathan Woodgate ruled out already a wise man would have thought that Gareth Barry would have been a good player to have in the squad. Alas, we are short a wise man in the one job you need a wise man.

This is all hindsight of course and nobody could have predicted this but surely it's just another reason why Gareth Barry should be picked for England.

With Wayne Bridge also a major doubt and Lennon getting injured in the last match, but amazingly still getting into the squad, his omission could be one of the last mistakes second choice Steve makes as England manager.

Still, at least Barry is getting a rest which he richly deserves but does anyone know, could second choice Steve call up Barry to the squad this close to the match? Answer on a postcard or the comment form below.

No chance! SCS is clueless and has made a fool of himself enough times to prove it.

Half the nation, if not more, reckons Barry should be in the squad it's just there's one man who doesn't. And unfortunately he's the one that picks the team...

To be honest, I'd rather Barry got a rest for next season as he's used to not being picked. He knows that if he scored 100 goals from midfield that SCS would still choose Lampard ahead of him despite the fact I can't remember when he last played a decent game for England.

Do we really want Barry associated with the England team any how? They play poor football and have no passion, something which Barry isn't used to in his game.

Would be good either way i think, if Barry gets in, hopefully it would raise his confidence, if he doesn't get the call-up he gets more training ahead of the season.

What Luke said. I wish Barry would just tell McClaren to fuck off and refuse to represent England with that moron at the helm. But that's just not the kind of guy he is. =)

Even my bluenose father thinks Barry should be on that team. The joke that is England grows by the minute.

mclaren is an idiot. he will be exposed, and all it needs is a hate campaign by one of the gutter rags, remember the sun running Turnip-Taylor?

If we dont qualify he will be sacked. it just amazes me that barry was the third best english midfielder according to opta behind Lampard.

It also amazes me that mcclaren has publicly stated he thinks lampard and gerrard can play in the middle together - we have all known for years this is not possible.

he is an absolute baffoon, a clown even.
