Gareth Barry on his way to join the Tottenham revolution?

The bastion of football speculation have come up with another one this morning; Aston Villa are bracing themselves for a ?3.5mn bid from Spurs for Gareth Barry.

I've said for a while now that since the end of the 2004/05 season my view on Barry had changed. Before I used to think he was a waste of space but I think towards the end of that season we saw something extra and although I'm honestly still on the fence I'm tending to lean in that direction still.

The reason I'm still on the fence though is quite a few people agree with my previous opinion and somebody said to me a while ago that Barry looks like he's doing something but rarely does; as in he will always run and run but we rarely get the finished article, just a few hopeful crosses and long balls.

I'm still leaning towards 'decent player' but I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to leave. O'Leary has destroyed the club and most people can see the football is poor, most people can see O'Leary doesn't seem to have a clue and most people can see that Spurs have a manager that is capable of achieving success.

Before I leave you this morning and drink copious amounts of coffee think about the 'bracing'. How are we bracing ourselves, like Stefan Postma, in so much that ?3.5mn isn't close enough to what Barry is worth?

Maybe we're bracing ourselves like we're told to if a plane has to make an emergency landing; if Barry leaves we're doomed or is that we're bracing ourselves like we have done so many times the last couple of years knowing what is going to happen and really not caring anymore?

I'm not sure if I'd like to brace myself like Stefan Postma but I think I know how this is going to play out.

Lastly, this is all rumour from the Daily Mirror but I wouldn't be surprised if Barry left for the team he supported as a boy and probably still does and you know, I'm not sure if that would upset me or not. I think it comes down to how the team have performed the last couple of seasons and not my feelings on the player.
