Gavin McCann: The missing link

Saturday, 10 September 05, 12:35 AM · Comments (0)

David O'Leary has made his own team but where is the missing link?

If the title hasn't given it away for you, this will; I believe Gavin McCann will or atleast should be the next player to be replaced by the manager.

If Steven Davis continues to play the way he is then his position is safe but Aston Villa are crying out for some creativity and for that to come in I think McCann has to make way.

Defensively the outlook is good. David O'Leary has said today he is after another central defender and with Ridgewell playing so well and Cahill waiting in the wings things couldn't really be better.

Upfront we have possibly the best strikers we have had at Villa Park since Savo and Yorke and maybe even since Shaw and Withe.

McCann runs around a lot and as David O'Leary said a few weeks ago, 'Gavin is the kind of hero only appreciated by players' maybe it's about time Villa signed a creative midfielder appreciated by the fans and the players.

Surely Gavin McCann wasn't in the manager's five year plan, was he?
