Graham Taylor has today called for Doug Ellis to step down. This will be a kick in the teeth for the chairman who considers Taylor a friend but Taylor seems to be shooting from the hip when he was talking to Sky Sports.
Taylor told Sky Sports "I'm very worried about Villa ever being again a dominant Premiership club, because the only way they are going to do it is to have a change at the very top.
"Doug won't like me saying this, but Doug you've stayed there too long and you've brought this all on yourself.
You haven't planned for your successor, you haven't realised life goes on and there's some people coming up to take your place."
Fan anger is going to turn back to the chairman as he's failed to remove David O'Leary and he has no excuses. Sure it might take funds to remove him but then who allowed that contract to be written up. He must have known at the time of signing it there was a chance O'Leary would fail, especially as he had no track record of success.
Now that Taylor has come out against his former employer it's only a matter of time before Ellis does something to appease the fans; let's hope it's the right thing and O'Leary is gone.
