I'm only asking because we've had a couple of days to get used to it and for some (me included) it usually takes a little time. I'm never going to like the star or the AVFC but as I said when this launched, what they're trying to do design wise, looks okay to me.
It's not just the star or the colours or AVFC. Most have a different opinion on the badge but for the majority the general opinion seems to be that the club 'could have done better'.
As you may or may not know we have got two questions in with Phil Mepham at Villa Park but he's still not answering our emails. We want to know if the star will be moved when we play in Europe again and why AVFC if Randy Lerner loves the name Aston Villa?
Phil could be on holiday which is why he's not answering our emails or it could be that he's busy with the last home game of the season and all the celebrations; but still, it's not in line with the new core values at Aston Villa FC and this is the hot topic at the moment.
We'll give him time to get back to us but in the meantime I'm finally running a quick question on this subject. It's not just if you like it or not and it has nothing to do with the star (as I'm assuming the club will move it to above the badge when in Europe) or shape; it's about AVFC or Aston Villa FC.
For me we are Aston Villa and I know some will say support the club but for me I'd really like the identity of my team proudly displayed on the badge. I have no problem with creating a brand around AVFC, just like Manchester United have around MUFC, but the badge is different.
So, if you can take a moment; let me know if you feel better about the badge or not below and please answer the quick question to the right. If Phil Mepham finds some free time, maybe he'll take a look also.
Aston Villa in Europe

I liked the new design from day one, and others I know are warming to it.
Why do so many not like change? we are entering a new era, everything is changing for the better, even AVFC looks good to me personally, we know we're an FC, so there's nothing wrong with that.
Look at the crest/badge it's replacing, we were stuck with that without any consultation whatsoever, now we've been asked for our views, some are up in arms because they didn't get their own way, tough, it was a democratic result.
There are even threads on the OS message boards, about boycotting the new strip with that badge on, are these people really Villa fans?
I love the name Aston Villa, but I'm not stuck in a time warp where I refuse to look to the future, and moan and groan about what Randy Lerner, the best thing that's happened to us in years, is doing for the club, and for us the supporters, it's a badge, it's not like he's knocked Villa Park down or anything.
Just to add, if he wasn't in control of Villa now, we might not be discussing the new badge, but the fact that we are fighting relegation, so which is best?
UTV.

Odd that you're complaining about the AVFC given the URL of this very blog!
still don't like it :x
kc
good spot, but it's also wwww.astonvilla.biz, www.aston-villa-blog.com and www.aston-villa-blog.co.uk
and like i said, i don't mind the AVFC for marketing purposes .. but on the badge, i think it has to say Aston Villa
As I see it, and attempting not to be biased by how much I love or hate the teams...
THE PREMIERSHIP BADGE TABLE 2006/7
1. Chelsea- so much better than the last one. good contrast, resounds with tradition, good colors, good lettering, strikes the eye.
2. Newcastle- traditional, balanced, attractive, quirky.
3. Spurs- puzzling and iconic
4. The former Aston Villa- Best use of colors, lion stands out and looks fierce, really my strongest objection is the font...i think small caps are dated, and it looks like times new roman
5. Man Utd- Strong, easy to read, classic
6. Liverpool- plenty of character to outweigh how busy it is, and makes good use of their theme song.
7. Sheffield- everything is there for a clear reason, ties in with their nickname. i don't like black and red.
8. Blackburn- decent, clear, strong lettering offsets the feminine image of the rose, don't like the very rectangular scroll
9. Arsenal- Good idea, but looks too much like an advertisement, too polished, too modern. I approve of the white outline of the cannon for the sake of making it more defined (which the new villa badge could use, perhaps not in white).
10. Reading- pretty decent all around, but lacks punch and a clear focal point
11. Boro- monochrome is dull, but it is direct. The beast is too big.
12. Portsmouth- gradient is bad, but it's a pretty striking image, though its significance is a little unclear.
13. Charlton- dull, bad color scheme, nice graphic
14. Man City- there's something odd about a shield sprouting wings and a head, but ok.
15. Wigan- too generic, could be a family crest, very busy and vague
16. Everton- the gradient is awful, and the font is prosaic
17. Fulham- dull, graceless, but strong. maybe they're trying to describe the team.
18. West Ham- looks as graceful as an auto parts store. blocky and clumsy.
19. Watford- awful strip, dumb moose, strange shape, only the font is good
20. Bolton- ugly, unclear, futuristic in a dated way. terrible letterforms.
At this point, the new logo would drop us down to a uefa cup spot.
On another note, I have to say that Aston Villa is the best name of any football club in the premiership, and it is ideal as the focal point of a brand. AVFC should be an alternate name, as it has it's own music (i.e. it rhymes), but it's not at compelling as the full name. There's something universal about it, since most people in the world don't know of Aston as a familiar place name, and there are the suggestions of Aston Martins and Italian Villas.
As this is my first significant post, I might seem like I just care about the outward trappings, but I've followed every game this season, and I hope to go to Villa Park for the first time this fall. Recently born, but in any case, Villa till I die!
The new badge is fine. Having AVFC on it is diferent and effective. i think that its a badge that will be recognised and remembered for being different. it's not as colourful as the current one, but it is different and that is what is sometimes a big seller. look at the virgin company for example.
I think AVFC could be a good simple brand, think like FCUK.
I'd prefer Aston Villa but I think it's partly about creating something simple that would be recognisable.
Still not fussy-lets see it on a shirt.
Still getting used to it, the hardest part for me is the complete change from the historical colours, claret and blue! the new crest is primarily blue with a large yellow lion and very little claret... why? I never really liked the previous design as I didn't like the stripes or the over use of yellow. The shape of the new crest is ok, but the lion should be claret, the star, which I don't mind could be yellow/gold and placed at the centre of the lion or directly above .. or not at all. The AVFC is to be honest, a poor move, and reminds of the bud advert, only they didn't leave the football to us ... shame, the new management obviously have the clubs best interests at heart, but we are Aston Villa FC, we're Prepared and most of all we are the Claret and Blue Army!, not the Blue and Yellow with a little Claret Army! I rest my case.
Signed .. Disappointed!
Honestly, who cares what the badge/crest looks like? Isn't it the football that counts? If we wear a bad strip with a crappy logo and still qualify for Europe next season, or even grab a cup, will anyone really care? I won't and I don't.
I think the badge is unfinished so I changed the background and made the star golden to see what I mean its on my Villa myspace

see what a little more thought could have produced.

Hey guys
See my posts have been removed now. Democracy is a wonderful thing - be sure to remove anything else that goes against your opinion in case people start thinking for themself.
Ever thought of moving to China or the Middle East? There maybe a job in government for you there.
Your posts were not moved Nick but when you were posting them we were moving server and on two databases. Unfortunately for you your posts got stored on the old database.
If it is an issue I can go and get them but that means putting the site live somewhere, importing the database and then copying over everything to here ...
We only lost about 20 posts and five members; I didn't think it was something I had to do .. but if you wish me to I will gladly do it for you.
