If we didn't all know O'Leary then this would be quite worrying

David O'Leary

David O'Leary has today laughed off the rumours from yesterday that he was going to join old pal Niall Quinn at Sunderland if his bid for the club is successful.

O'Leary, quickly referring to his journal, confirmed he hasn't spoken to Quinn since October last year and that he has plans to be at Aston Villa next season.

He told the official web site "I haven't got a clue about that. Niall Quinn hasn't called me. Just because he's a big friend, that doesn't mean anything. I haven't spoken to him since October.

"I've got a big job to do here. I know what needs to be done here and hopefully I can do that in the summer.

"I've planned a good pre-season and I hope by the time we get to the pre-season, I'll have made the chances I want to make.

"I'll leave the predictions to other people, but I know I'll be here managing the only Premiership club in the Midlands next season. I'm proud to be managing this great club."

There are apparently four Aston Villa fans that want O'Leary to stay and they're planning a protest for the last game of the season against Sunderland this weekend; you'll see them because they'll be the ones without a banner or balloon or the ones cheering him when he does a lap of the pitch after the match.
