Is Martin Laursen gone for good?

Tuesday, 26 July 05, 10:02 AM · Comments (0)

With the news that Laursen is likely ot miss the start of the season with another knee injury the question has to be asked, is this the end for Laursen?

As one of David O'Leary's most expensive signings (if anyone has a complete list of signings by DOL we would appreciate a copy) it is a worry that he has only played in a handful of games and reports today suggest that the problem could be a lot lot worse than originally expected.

Paul McGrath never trained and had big probelms with his knees but the game was different then - not by much but still different - today you want a central defender right at the top of his game for 90 minutes every week.

It is now feared that Laursen will have to have another operation or that he has to stop heavy training (running) and the player himself is also worried that if this doesn't help he may have to hang up his boots.

This concern for the start of the season has prompted our next question to the left, who would you play with Mellberg?
