It's only loans in January

Tuesday, 13 December 05, 10:08 AM · Comments (0)

The self-titled (or self-indulged?) saviour of Aston Villa, David O'Leary, has revealed that there is no money to spend in the January transfer window.

Desperately in need of some players that can play Premiership standard football, O'Leary has stated that "you wouldn't have to be a rocket scientist to say a target for me will be a central defender!"

Despite all the blarney, we should see an attempted move for Chelsea's Robert Huth and Fulham's Zak Knight among others.

Both should be gettable on a loan deal, although competition with sides that have money could see us lose out.

I'm not sure if O'Leary is willing to give Gary Cahill a chance in the Premiership, but if he can prove himself against Hull (if he's fit in time) then he might get a sniff when Ridgewell cocks up again.

I'd like to see another midfielder come in and a versatile full-back.

A creative midfielder would be brilliant, but only money will get us one of those.

Another six months of stuggle and we'll have some more cash to wast... spend on players.

Let's hope the takeover happens by January so we can strengthen the squad with some decent players.
