John Carew signs for Aston Villa

Monday, 22 January 07, 12:27 PM · Comments (16)

We didn't predict it at the weekend as it was really only a rumour but as of about two hours ago Norwegian John Carew officially became an Aston Villa player.

Carew is a class act. He's hard working and scores goals. Am I happy about losing Baros, ultimately no but I'm more than happy with his replacement.

I almost feel like confirming that it will be Nike who manufacture the Aston Villa kit as of next season but I'm still waiting on confirmation although I'm pretty sure Reebok are out of the running but until I get it all confirmed it's still Nike or Reebok and more than likely next season they start to be used.

Carew is just what we need. I just hope we don't expect him personally to score goal after goal - from what I have seen is a stronger version of Emille heskey - I feel he will create goals for our pacy strikers, Moore, Gabby, ....and young if he ever finds that Pen !

Him and Gab upfront could make the rest of the season for us. Just need Ashley Young to confirm and a creative midfielder and we're set til May.

We need to get carew, young and gabs and even moore and angel (as back-ups) working in a system that will make us at least uefa cup candidates next year.

Just watched video clip-looks like he can use both feet and his head!Could be our best forward since Peter Withe !!
What do you think?

I like the idea of Carew after seeing some video footage of him but all new strikers coming to the club create a little more excitement ... lets wait to judge but I hope he's as good as we hope.

Seen some clips of Carew and he looks good. Could be the forward wev'e been lacking since Peter Withe! I am an optimist, so if we get a good midfielder in now, then qualifying for Europe this season cannot be ruled out.

after seeing baros up close on saturday (as those seats were killer, cheers) it just went to show how gash baros was, he missed changes all over, he was constantly offside, he was diving, arguing with gabby then ironically clapping gabby for running on to a shit layoff from himself, good riddance i say. and weve now got players how are mo'n wants and knows will give alot for the cause

well,m o 'neill has captured a player with potential. ive checked on his clips and his goal tally looks really good. But is he another laursen[injury prone] he hasnt played many games obviously through injuries from wat i can see.but i suppose any 1 can better baros's form of l8 haha. so i think its a good transfer[swap deal]:).fingers crossed for him. On the young signing i dont know if its defo a done deal the media have said its done. nearly 10 mill 4 a player whos only got a few goals to his name is a bit pricey for me,but m o neill said he has potential still only 21 i think hes more of a midfielder[rm] than a striker im not to sure on young but let shope the pair of them perform and get back to where we are.ty **up the villa**

I think that the Carew signing for villa is brilliant, villa hopefully will finally have a natural goalscorer, and with Young also likely to sign - hopefully with these new players and O'neil, we can attract more classy players to the villa!!!
