I like the stance O'Leary is taking but if would have carried more weight with me if he had chosen somebody to use it on rather than the Villa midfielder who has a reputation of thuggish behaviour.
I've also had a few emails in today saying that three supporters of Aston Villa have called Villa Park to defend Lee Hendrie and his actions that took place in the match against Tamworth.
Rumours that these people are his mum, dad an Steve Bruce's daughter are not true although this is not confirmed.
I was not at the match but from what I understand there was a bad tackle which Hendrie reacted to. He's a professional football player, paid a considerable sum of money each week who should know better.
If it is true, regardless of the provocation, that he 'got involved' and caused a 20 man scuffle then I'm afraid the red card should stand and he should be fined the maximum with the money given to a local charity.
Somebody should probably inform David O'Leary about Lee Hendrie and then maybe he could use these words of wisdom on somebody else. I'm all for managers supporting players but not if that player is paid a kings ransom and has a history of this behaviour.
