Kev's banker bet: Manchester United

Thursday, 15 December 05, 10:11 PM · Comments (0)

Before United played Wigan I would have made a bet on getting a point this weekend and I'd probably have had a side bet that we'd win but after watching them literally destroy Wigan I think everyone knows what my prediction is going to be this weekend.

Losing Mellberg is a massive blow to Aston Villa but having Hughes and Bouma who can both play centre back is good cover and I'm guessing but Delaney will probably fill the gap.

A lot has been said of the streak that Villa seem to be on at the moment and when I predicted the Bolton defeat last week I was secretly hoping we'd turn them over but we didn't - we ended up with a good draw.

If we had won David O'Leary would have been safe in his job for a few more weeks. As it stands however if we lose on Saturday he'll have lost more than he's won as manager of Aston Villa and we'll be averaging a point a game - definitely relegation form and definitely time for change as far as Doug Ellis is concerned, surely?

Three points to United this weekend. Go bet on it and thank me on Monday.
