Live text: Everton v Aston Villa

Sunday, 07 December 08, 08:24 AM · Comments (0)

End Of Match: Fantastic fantastic match. Everton fans, much like the one I'm sitting with, thinks a draw would have been a fair result and he's not wrong, but we won and well, fantastic. We're back to fifth place.

90' (+4): Another Everton mistake and we're in. What a fantastic game! 3-2 and I'll bet money there is no more goals in this game

90' (+4): 3-2 Ashely YOung!

90' (+3): This has been coming for 20 minutes. We've looked a little tired and we were under the kosh for most of the game. Why no subsitutions?

90' (+3): Lescot gets another. 2-2

90' (+1): Corner for Everton ... 2 minutes to go

90': 3 minutes added ...

89': We really are just defending at the moment. Everyone is in the last third.

88': We are proper under the kosh now lads. We just need to hold on!

86': We keep our heads and we've got this lads. Back to fifth place and knocking on the door!

76': Ashley Young was on one one with the keeper and instead of shoot he tried to cut the ball back and give himself more time. Only thing is where he cut back too had a defender. It was a golden opportunity.

74': 15 minutes plus stoppage time to go. If we keep doing what we are doing we could walk away with three points, but we need to keep our heads.

72': Everton are on the attack and I'm not sure how much more of this we will be able to take.

60': I must apologise, it's actually Fellaini, not Fellini. But he is 19 feet tall, or close to it anyway. We're starting to take control again, but Everton are pressing and looking like they're getting back into it.

56': The Blue Scouse I'm sitting with reckons that the 19 foot Fellini could get sent off if he's not careful. Watch this space.

55': The Everton defender actually passed the ball to Young, 25 yards out and all he had to do was shoot and score. In fact, Young would have been 15 yards offside if a Villa player had made that pass.

54': 2-1 Ashley Young!

47': That big bloke Fellini hits the crossbar from a corner. Now Everton have a corner. Seeing the replay it was actually a great save from Friedel who tipped it onto the bar.

46': We're kicking off. We need a much better second half.

Half Time: All round good game in the first half but Everton deserved the point and they might consider themselves unlucky not to be in the lead.

45': Free kick on the edge of the box. Lovely run from Young down the left and an extra yard it would have been a penalty.

43': We are under the cosh/kosh now. Maybe we shouldn't have scored so early.

41': Cueller heads off the line from the 18 foot Everton player, Fellini I think.

38': Free kick for Everton. Same place as before.

34': We're starting to look a little shakey defensively. Osman just won the ball on the right and crossed. We were lukcy Everton didn't get onto that.

28': 1-1 Lescot. I've seen Everton take that free kick 20 times this season and they score from it. I'm sure O'Neill knows and that they're going to tighten up on this.

24': Cahill breaks down the left and has a thunderous shot saved by Friedel. First thing he's been asked to do all day and he's done it. Kick on ..

17': Apologies ofr lack of commentary but I'm trying to entertain a scouser, watch the match and get drunk. It's all us at the minute but Everton are pushing. I can see us winning by a few today thought!

16': Just for George:

VILLA: Friedel; L Young, Davies, Laursen, Cuellar; Sidwell, Barry, Petrov, Milner, A Young; Agbonlahor. Subs: Guzan, Knight, Harewood, Reo-Coker, Gardner, Shorey, Delfouneso.

8': Barry is down after getting whacked by Laursen. He'll be up in a minute. By the way, I'm watching with a blue scouse fan - I'm enjoying this.

1': Nice touch back from Milner. Sidwell shoots from 22 yards. 34 seconds! Get in

1': 1-0 Villa, Stevew Sidwell!

1': We've changed ends and Everton kick off.

Before Kick Off: Just for George:

VILLA: Friedel; L Young, Davies, Laursen, Cuellar; Sidwell, Barry, Petrov, Milner, A Young; Agbonlahor. Subs: Guzan, Knight, Harewood, Reo-Coker, Gardner, Shorey, Delfouneso.

Before Kick Off: Right - here we go lads. Kick off in seconds.

Before Kick Off: Right - we're going to move over to the match centre in a moment but until then I've removed the comment section as I'm getting spammed.

Before Kick Off: Just under 20 minutes to go and West Brom have just gone a goal up against Pompey, which is good news.

Before Kick Off:

Friedel, L Young, Davies, Laursen, Cuellar, Sidwell, Barry, Petrov, Milner, A Young, Agbonlahor. Subs: Guzan, Knight, Harewood, Reo-Coker, Gardner, Shorey, Delfouneso.

Looks like 4-5-1 again and the Fonz is on the bench.

Before Kick Off: There is talk that Ashley Young might not make the starting line up. I'd be worried if he didn't play as most seems to go through him, but it should then allow Milner more of the ball and maybe it will be an opportunity for him to shine. I'll say nothing else other than I hope it's not true.

Before Kick Off: We'll also be redirecting to the match centre at kick off where we've got live stats and a chat box for the full 90 minutes, with some updates to the match, if you can't get in front of a TV.

Before Kick Off:

We have a thread in the forum specifically for the match and we've also got a poll running asking what the result will be today.

At the moment nearly half think it will be a draw. As does Marky Mark.

Before Kick Off:

No team news yet but we know Carew isn't playing but will the Fonz start? Doesn't matter just now but I still fancy three points.

Everton are 13/8 while Villa are 17/10. I think you've got to get on Villa at this price.

Before Kick Off: Kick off is just over 90 minutes away so welcome to the live text. Team news, gossip and banter before kick off and during the match.
