Love it: Antonio Valencia and Emile Heskey from Wigan

I would love to have Valencia too, he does look special, you're right Damian. Doubt he'll come though, he wouldn't when I tried to sign him on PES 2009!

I can't help but think that's a loaded question and I'll walk into it, but you wont like the answer, which is, I don't know.

What I can tell you is that during the week, I'll generally get most Premier League matches and have done for the past three/four seasons.

Don't be so suspicious Damian! I just wanted to check it wasn't just the great sounding name and a few spectacular goals!

It is easy to become suspicious doing this ... but seeing as I work for myself for all of about 3 hours a day - I have qutie a bit of time and the games are on throughout the week so it's easy to watch.

You seem to have a good relaxing life Damian, and to top it off...out of England! Nice one.

Valencia would be a great signing. Great engine on him and a lot more pace then Milner which is something we need on the right wing. Heskey would be good signing too as he would be cheap and might just work very well in opening channels in defences for Gabby to run into a bit like used to for Owen.

Why do you think that you can just come along and pinch Wigans good players.We find these good young players to try to make Wiagan a better team and then a "big" team can come along and poachs them.

I think everything here on in depends on how MON wants to play. We can't ignore the fact that we have tightened up a lot by going 4-5-1 and in that formation you can accomodate attacking players on both sides of the pitch. Do we really need another striker if we stay 4-5-1?

If we play 4-4-2 (and I think MON will revert to it as soon as he can) then I think we have three automatics in Petrov, Barry and Young, that leaves a berth on the right where you already have Milner and NRC competing - both defensively strong and hard workers. I can't see us playiong a more attacking option in that position - we leak too many goals at 4-4-2 already.

A long winded way of saying that we will play 4-4-2 and buy strikers not midfielders!

I don't think we should stick with 4-5-1 at all. 2 Forwards needed, especially at home (like Fulham game!)

I also think the team have stopped conceeding because the defenders have gelled and are playing better. Plus Shorey got dropped.

In other words, revert back to 4-4-2 and buy two more forwards for competition and strength.

I wonder if games would be more exciting and with more goals if football adopted the use of 12 players. Teams could then go 4-5-2...! Could work...?

Heskeys been poor this season, looks like he doesn't want to be here anymore so I would shed no tears at him moving. As for Valencia he can be amazing, but he can disappear just as often - as he did on Saturday. Every player has his price and I reckon de Ridder is a decent enough replacement so for £7 or £8 million I would let him choose between us and whoever it was. Who knows, he may show some loyalty

Villa_Chris I don't think you should underestimate the extra bit of positional intelligence in midfield provided by Sidwell and Milner. One flashy hard tackle and a lot of hard work is no substitute for holding your shape and closing down the opposition's space. The defence are doing well I agree but any centre half will tell you it's only as good as the guys in front of you when you haven't got the ball.

I think its Petrov and Barry that have the positional intelligence in Midfield recently. Petrov has been outstanding. Cutting balls out, tackling and providing a good pass. Sidwell was really quiet in the Fulham game. As regards to Milner, he works his arse off and is everywhere for us which is good to see. Reo-Coker will have a job forcing his way back into midfield if you ask me.

I still think that we lack quality in depth up front. Midfield can be added to or players replaced etc in summer, still have Gardner and Reo-Coker in reserve so priority has to be forwards. Heskey isn't the answer - doesn't score and played for Small Heath. Doyle would be a good signing but also need a top quality proven scorer to add to the team.

Talking about Mr Barry. He's done a quick interview on the OS. In that interview he states...'This season will be a good learning curve if things are to come in the next few seasons'

Now I know it's not actually saying he intends to remain for the next few seasons, but if you read into the way he said it, I think he means he's looking to be part of what Villa want to achieve..?

Obviously it will depend if we are still contending for a top 4 place the year after.

All this Barry stuff may be a good thing to help raise the expectations of Villa. I know he's only one player, but I think he has some influence in the team and in raising expectations and belief. IMO..!
