Martin Laursen to 'start jogging' in May

Martin Laursen

The good news today is Martin Laursen can start jogging next month and with a bit of luck he could be ready to play another game next season.

I'm sorry, but is this all worth it? We are paying the player a fortune each week to sit in Italy, drink good wine and eat great food to hopefully get him fit for what we all suspect will be another game or two before the knee goes again.

Surely Aston Villa have insurance on the player and surely if they were to put in a claim they couldn't be refused. Martin Laursen is a great defender from what we've seen and if we had had him all season I'm sure we'd be in 15th right now rather than 16th but it does annoy me that for 13 games we've paid the player around two million quid. We've probably played for all the rehabilitation also!

Like I've said, from what we've seen he's a great player and if he does start next season I suspect it won't be for long before he gets injured again and I just think that money could be better spent. Why not cut the losses and let the player continue his rehabilitation on Italy no longer an Aston Villa player?
