Match Prediction: Newcastle

Monday, 29 January 07, 04:13 AM · Comments (24)

Wednesday is the second dawn for Martin O'Neill. He'll hopefully have four players starting for him that are 100% his players and although it's a little early to see them all playing the way they should be, I'm hoping for it.

It's my right to hope for something special from Carew (pronounced Carev), Young or dare I say it even Luke Moore. If it doesn't happen it doesn't happen but wouldn't it be just fantastic if we leave Newcastle on Wednesday night with three points and maybe a debut goal or two for the new players?

I mention Luke Moore as there is a chance he will be back but I'm not sure Martin O'Neill will throw him straight in to the first team, especially now that we have Ashley Young.

It's also going to be interesting to see the formation the manager picks. I'm all for playing five in midfield if you've got two young wide men doing a lot of running: it worked for us before Moore got injured and I see no reason why it shouldn't still work for us.

Petrov should be fit, I could play better at right back than Hughes so expect Bardsley to start also. It's a third of the team and it's a big enough change to see a difference. Newcastle, I don't think, have any new players this window, which is a surprise as they're usually always spending.

If I were a manager I'd love the Newcastle job as you get loads of cash and there are no real expectations outside of Newcastle. In Newcastle you are expected to win everything but everyone else in football knows Newcastle are never going to win anything.

I'm not having a pop at Roeder but what has he ever achieved as a manager and what makes him think, just because he has a mouthpiece, that he should be using it?

Roeder will never win anything at Newcastle for lots of reasons but the first one and most important is he's not very good at his job. He did do something good though in buying Obafemi Martins. I think this lad has huge talent. It's just a pity that Roeder won't be around to see it fully flourish as he'll most likely get the sack soon enough.

Nikki Butt is also having a good season by all accounts and if he plays he'll be one to watch but I've got a feeling this is a match for the travelling support.

Newcastle are only a point ahead of us and Villa need an away win. We've seen that you can go to Newcastle and get something from teams like West Ham and Birmingham City so I'm having a fiver on the three points for Villa.

I'm predicting an away win. I'm not going into details but we are due it and I believe the time is now. Like I said, all I've got is hope right now.

You never know we might even see another new player by Wednesday. Fingers crossed and the latest rumours will be going up soon.

due to all the hype and new players i also believe we will win....but the passimist in me also believes that it never happens for the villa, we have all the support (i am going wednesday) the players and the management and it should be a fine victory, but in our (old) tradition we used to screw it up.
i'm still looking at games like we have o'leary and doug in charge when i shouldn't . i just cant help fearing the worst all the time !

I`m afraid hope is all you got against Toon. Sorry to say but we keep a clean sheet on wednesday and beat the hell out of you!

You know nothing, which is very evident in your lacking report. Newcastle are going to shoot Villa down and O'neil must be the disapointment of the season. The guy is overrated which is why Villa are below Newcastle in the league, even tho Newcastle have had the worts injury crisis of a premier league club ever!. Villa are a mid table club and always will be. For more than 10 years there have never been a 4th spot and there wont be in the next 10 either. 3-1 win to the home side, with good old Barry scoring the one for Villa.

Newcastle were total dross against Birmingham and I dont think you can include that game in our results. I believe Newcastle will beat Villa 2-0 with Martins and Sibi getting the goals.

ps. Villa are never going to win anything either - so that makes at least two clubs with hopeless dreams

I am really excited about Wednesday, I can't wait to see the new boys in action. I think it will be a great attacking game, Newcastle of late going through a bad patch like we have. I can't see a draw, however my money would be on a Villa win! (but I would say that)

No-one goes into these games predicting a loss to your own team, so its obvious Newcastle and Villa supporters will disagree!!

Bring home the 3 points lads!! Up the Villa!!

Newcastle are the joke of the league, it used to be us with Ellis, but the roeder/Fat sheppherd team is hilarious. roeder has only ever relegated temas - enough said.

Roeder Can't Do His Job?! I'm sorry, but last i checked, we are further in the table than you by a couple of places and finished higher last season! Martin O'Neill is massively over-rated, who, in the right mind, couldn't take Celtic to win the SPL, IT'S THE SPL!t there's only 2 maybe 3 decent teams in it, the rest is like playing league 2 oppisition, even a retarded villa fan could do it. Villa wont even leave SJP with a point.

What a load of rubbish mate. Villa are perhaps one of the most pointless teams in English Football, their existence is pointless.

Barry is the only good thing to come out of that place and he's from Hastings. Lee Hendrie payed the price for staying with that decaying club, he could have moved wherever he wanted at the age of 21.

Ask Milner and Solano... can't see them going back there. They've seen the light

or should I say lack of it! Bramble back is great news for the Villa. While he can do somethings well he ALWAYS makes huge mistakes OR has ridiculous lapses in concentration. An example is the Angel goal at VP early this season, what a dope, Angel is hardly blessed with pace........

So an easy win for NUFC is not on the cards. No I'm more in tune with Damien on this. Carew holding the ball up laying off passes for the runs of Young and Gabby, should create chances. Then there's the Petrov factor, he should get more forward game as Carew WILL hold the ball up more effectively than Angel. Finally, Carew can take the ball on himself, he won't be pushed off the ball and can beat defenders. Thus creating chances for runners and himself.

So a Villa win HT-FT 2-0

LOL. isnt it just great how the biggest under achievers in english football, like to run there mouth off, and yes we may have not done anything or real worth in the last 10 years , but what have you won in that time, also what have you won in the history of newcastle united, maybe next time your down VP, you lot would like to take a trip round our trophy room , and see what its like to have a history. myself i seem to remember yuo were all praying to get MON and now that he has chosen us he's an over rated manager, who can only win things in scotland.

and if thats the case i'd take MON over glenn rodent anyday of the week, we thumped you at VP this season and will do it all again @ SJP.

Newcastle fans are more hated up and down the country than anyone else. Even big achievers like Man Utd, liverpool and even Chelsea these days have more respect than you guys. What have you ever done apart from spend big and get nowhere? You newcastle sirs are the biggest underachievers not us, be jealous we're moving forward and ye be not.

Wtf? lol If you didn't realise it takes a team to get good results and apart from Petrov, Sutton and Agathe for a few games.. it was still the same team as last season apart from Milner. O'Neill is building for the future and said he will not compete for europe this season but a top half finish then keep improving in the following seasons. This is a new era at VP so apart from an ass kicking display on wednesday.. don't expect too much from us :)

Villa have achieved about the same level of honours as Newcastle in recent years, however, we've used about £60 million less in doing so. Soon we will be on a more even keel with the rest, and not having to put out an academy squad week in, week out. Imagine that, surviving in the Premiership with a depleted reserve squad and still spanking your over-hyped pitiful A***.
I can hear your sorry voices pre-match " Honestly, I'd love it if we beat them.." ( bottom lip quivering like a girl ). If scum beat you 5-1, then we should be looking at cuffing you 13-0.

I'm not sure what the Newcastle Comedy Club fans are on about. I can't believe they're backing Roeder- they're more a laughing stock than I thought.

A small squad with big injuries- we've been missing Moore since early in the season when we were playing 4-3-3.

They've spent, sorry squandered, millions. Luque, Owen, Parker, Emre. Even Solano's best days were at Villa.

Actually his name is pronounced Carew as the English press say. Living in norway I appreciate that Norwegians say Carev but his father is from an African nation and Carew himself has previously expressed that the "english" way to say his name is correct. It's just the scandinavians that get it wrong but I guess that having grown up in Norway he's probably used to it by now.

newcastle are the over-rated ones, their trophy room is perhaps more empty than wigans and readings combined. Carew and Young on the wing will over rule your crappy defence. up da Villa!

yes, well done newcastle , i travelled the 400 mile round trip and i was slightly upset to be 2-0 down in 6 minutes....However , any one who was at the game will see that you was lucky . our equaliser should of stood and then on top of that we had another 3-4 chances to score.
i know that its the score that matters and like i said, well done, but with carew and young only having 3 days training and playing like that i am more than happy.
whn carew is match fit and completing 90 mins we will win more than we are losing.
basically him going off is what saved you from losing.

i am very happy this morning knowing that we have at last got a striker who can hold the ball up, give and go and win a header, and in young we got another forward with pace skill and enthusiasm that will turn our poor run around.

so well done to the barcodes for the let off we gave them last night and UP THE VILLA
