Match Prediction: Reading

Monday, 21 August 06, 11:29 AM · Comments (0)

I know we've only just played the first game of the season but on Wednesday Reading travel to Villa Park in what is set to be an amazing night.

Reading had a great result at the weekend beating Middlesbrough 3-2 after coming back from two down. I can see Middlesbrough having a tough season under Southgate and I'd like to say I felt something but I don't.

Reading never gave up at the weekend and I suspect they won't give up on Wednesday night and I'm fairly sure they could have a good season, my only doubt for them would be manager Steve Coppell; I'm not sure he's got what it takes to handle the Premiership, but I could be proven wrong.

Wednesday is the first home match of the season, the first home match for new manager Martin O'Neill and let's not forget that it's the first home match since Doug Ellis decided to sell to Mr Lerner.

I suspect Villa Park will be a sell out and if the atmosphere is anything like it can be then the crowd alone will carry the lads to three points; it's how far they carry them that should worry Reading.

I'm predicting a Villa win and hoping for a rousing performance from the Villa Park faithful. Remember Blues last season? If we played with that type of support every week we'd already be playing Champions League football and Villa Park would soon become fortress Villa Park.

Reading will do okay this season but I wouldn't fancy any team coming to Villa Park on Wednesday so I'm sticking my neck out ans saying 3-0.
