I'm doing this early because I don't want to think about last night or last week for too much longer and thought a look to West Ham should chance my perspective.
Like I said somewhere earlier, I think we'll win this game. Mostly because we were very unlucky not to win last night and because we'll have two players that are well up for it.
Those two players are Nigel Reo-Coker and Marlon Harewood and I'd like to see both of them start. Yes, you're thinking I'm absolutely mad but I look at it this way; they're both Martin O'Neill players and what better incentive do they have?
To the match. West Ham are doing well; they're only one point behind us and they've played the same number of games so if they were to win their game in hand they could be sitting in fifth spot. A team that sits in fifth spot after nearly a quarter of the season isn't a team to be taken lightly.
Now, while I said above we were unlucky to not win last night we were also quite lucky to find ourselves four one up so the luck kind of evened out over the ninety minutes. However, we didn't have Villa Park last night and I think that will be one of the factors that gets us three points at the weekend.
Apart from the opening day mishap, against the team I have down to win the Chumpians League, we've won everything else and I don't think this weekend will be any different, but a score draw also wouldn't surprise me.
We shouldn't take West Ham lightly but we've also got to go out to win this match and I think Martin O'Neill will. He'll know how important it is to get three points after Leicester and Spurs, so expect the team to come out battling and using the wings.
If they battle, fight for every ball and use the wings effectively I think this is three points. If the team come out and don't look at the races this will be a draw. I suppose that's the problem the manager needs to overcome; consistency.
Anyway, I'll be consistent with my prediction; home win and three points. I even fancy Marlene to get one. Sorry, I meant to say Marlon.

id say either 2-2 or 3-2 to villa, will be a close game. i agree with you, we need to forget about the spurs game and concentrate on the hammers, so i say come'on lets get behind the lads
scorers- moore, barry, reo coker
good idea to forgot last night. west ham will be hard but a win for sure. villa park is becoming a very difficult place to visit and it will be 3 points again this weekend
id also like to see that african fella we signed have a bit of time on the pitch
How much did you pay us for Marlene? Please, please, please play him against us.......
give harry forrester a go!!
west ham win..harewood cost us 3.75million...pointless
only two starts or summat...fuckin stupid...reo-coker aint been amazing but he will improve...west ham to win 1-2...from a die hard villa fan...
Fantastic article. I enjoyed reading it, but, please for your own sake, dont play Harewood, or better still please play harewood. To be serious, he was a great player for us Hammers until last season, and i was gutted he left, he has potential and i hope he fineds it with Villa.
And believe me, i was nearly as gutted as you last night, when Spuds equalised!!! agghhhh it still pains me that they thought it was a victory the way they celebrated.. the stupid A**holes was 4-1 down.. how sad is that?
I like Villa and i hope they end up in top 5 with us at WHU.. its live on friday at 3pm.. if yu need the feed to watch the match then contact me on my site..
My site will have details to watch the match live on saturday
I also think Villa will win more's the pity. We haven't won at your place in years and injuries seem to have impacted us significantly.
Btw, forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn, but your piece would benefit from some serious editing. You could have put precisely the same points across but in the half the words. I look forward to reading a far more concise blog when it's your turn to visit Upton Park. No offence.
Hi Guys being a sensible hammer I was gutted that you did not win last night but then again being a hammer i have seen it so many times with our team.. Nigel on form is a fantastic player and marleen (so frustrating) but with confidence gets great goals.. see you saturday
1-1 WH score first, villa have got a problem with the last 10 mins of games, we fall to pieces and as a result we draw to many matches its been goin for years, come on we all knew they were goin to score that precious 4th goal, deadwood or coker to score on sat, it will be a fluke if deadwood scores, oh yeah martins another joke, but any1 is better than our current no9
I bet its all to do with that stupid woman at villa that deals with the transfers...
My stupid sister lived in Dagenham for a while, so she thinks she an 'ammer, all through the stuffing last year she texted me taking the p**s. I want revenge!! So come on lads, save the girl's llife, otherwise I may have to throttle her if we lose (lol).
I agree with Damian, start Homer and expect him to get some stick, rise above it, score, silence the irons and start a magnificent run of games/goals. I can dream can't I?
Happy hammer u want worrie more about reo coker breaking one of ur players legs or better still scoreing a late winner ur in for a stuffing gezza a proper christmas stuffing :D :D
I think this game will definitely be an indication on how we're progressing. We'll either show a lack of spirit and be the beginning of a slump, or we'll rise to the challenge and show we're building some spirit that is hard to dampen.
Until at least after this game i'm going to be the optimist and go for a home win to the villa, and not concede.
Please let harewood play. I always liked him but he's easy to mark. I hope Reo-Joker breaks a leg. With all that said i think you will do well this season.
I must say i find it odd you only considered a villa win or draw i thin west ham will equally be more up 4 it our away from has been good l8ly and i think you guys will struggle after the shock of tht 4-4 draw from teh shite from shite fart lane but i do think its unfair not to give west ham a shout coz they will probably win 2-0 respectivly specially if bellamy is back and noble wants to drop reo coker which i think we may see but yea thast just my opinion i think it will be tight with late goals from ashton and bellz
This will be a tough fixture for West Ham. Really think you guys look good when playing well, but as stated end matches badly. Probably because of so many young players, but they will improve. Arsenal did the same last year. Think result on saturday will depend on if bellamy is fit, if you think harewoods bad you should see carlton cole, and how well reo-cocker and young play as they have been inconsistent but you look at your best when their on form. Looking forward to a good game though. Oh and also gutted totscum came back but was nice it happened to someone else.
I am a West ham fan who moved to the Midlands some time ago. I think ricky the hammer is slightly wrong as I believe we beat Villa at Villa Park 2-1 the season before last (didn't Marlon score a pen ?). I have written an article for this site before after our 4-0 home win in the same season (Marlon hat trick) when I think Damien predicted an away win ???? I fully expect a score draw which since I have been up here I think would be typical !!
Well i think this will be a home win and im going for a 2-0. I think on the whole Villa will be pretty comfortable. If you look at the teams they have played they havent really taken any big scalps and havent really come through any sturn tests. They beat: Birmingham, Reading & Middlesborough and have lost to: Arsenal, Man City & Newcastle and also drew with Wigan. At home we have beaten both Chelsea & Everton who are top 6 teams. WHU have played average teams, with their fixture start i would have expected them to be above Villa. Ashton is looking good at the moment though and we cant afford to give him any space.
As i said before comfortable win for Villa, i feel alot of people have overrated WHU this season and alot of people underate Villa.
UTV
Rubbish, tough game yes, fortress villa park no. either team could take the points, if bellamy is fit i would favour us. if not then it could go either way depending on who plays well.
i am looking forward to it
2-0 to the Villa if we play like we can, we don't sit back inviting pressure and Harewood remains on the bench for the entire 90 minutes.
Should be a good game, can't see us winning to be honest, I'd settle for a draw and just hope the arrogant Reo-joker doesn't score!
I have a feeling he'll go with an unchanged lineup. Playing Harewood could work, simply because it will allow Gabby to play on the right giving us more width, but it could be counter productive to reward Harewood's Spurs display with a starting place.
If Maloney is fit, I'd like to see him get the nod, with Young possibly moving to the right. We're very strong at home, so we should edge it, but it won't be an easy game.
how can spam fans be placing so much faith in bellamy to sway the match? speaks volumes for the rest of the squad. Granted you're a good team on your day, any team could snatch it on recent form but villa have been playing better at home this season than last.
Wonder where this so called new website is then once again villa prove to be the slowest club in the history or football a true first class snail
1-2 WHU to much pressure on the team to preform at home which will show on saturday .
looking at 1.1 draw hope i am wrong :)
To the WHU fans venting their frustration on Reo-Coker: get a life, your team was shit not due to 1 player but you decided to make him the scapegoat. As for Reo-Coker being arrogant - considering your squad includes some of the biggest, troublemaking, arrogant underachievers in British football - from Bellamy through to Bowyer and Dyer, I'd be more concerned about the current state of your dressing room rather than spend time spouting venom on a player who has moved on.
id play carson and the usual back 4 (mellberg, laursen, knight, bouma) and in midfield id play young on the left with barry and reo coker in the centre with maloney/gardner on the right and play moore and agbonlahor upfront.
i cant see any west ham player being able to keep gabby in touch
I HATE BLUES must be wum. Every comment i have seen from him is negative.
Still the new site is not launched have they forgotton or do they have first timers workin on the site? Be lucky if we see it next season
The new website's being launched but the club informs us that "this webpage is a long term project - possibly a 5 year program - and this may result in further delays". The server is very young and inexperienced and some of the back up parts, should replacements be required, are also not of the highest quality: as a result the occasional up & down may be experienced but the club trusts in its own team of IT experts to put it right, eventually. A spokesman for the AVFC Website project told us yesterday that "some of the technical equipment used for this new official webpage is not of the highest quality. We cannot attract the best in terms of server's parts just yet but we trust to be able to do so in coming seasons. This website is a long term plan and will get better". Another spokesman confirmed that "the club is aware we lack right sided spare parts for the server and we will repair to this when the sales start at PC World in January. We are - after all - looking long term and we shall not be hurried in our plans". Rumours suggesting Marlon Harewood's feet will be used to provide cover should any metal parts break down in the new server have been denied by a sniggering club representative.
Nice 1 Mick.
Seriously though, what's going on with the new site? Wasn't it supposed to be ready a while ago? Nobody seems to know what the f is going on.. not very 'open'
Anyhoo, I have a feeling we'll spank the hammers. It would be in keeping with our current form of blowing hot and cold.

RE: New Website
I think they may have posted it to Villa through the mail. and of course with todays 48 hour strike and the next one on monday. Royal mail say businesses wont get any mail till thursday :P

JJJust saw martin laursen in town, i was so starstruck
I have just read through all the posts to this article and noticed that about midway along it morphed into a Spammers site, Claret & True turns out to be a colour copier. Damian, don't take any notice of the poster who syas that your articles could do with a bit of editing, they can't read more than ten words without pictures.
We're going to win. Maloney will be MotM with a hat rick, Marlon will score, NRC will settle some scores and MON will look smug in interviews. Saturday's winning lottery numbers will be .......
My sister's east-end family have put a contract out on me, even if they win. I've gone into hiding where they least expect to find me: St Andrews! No, only joking.
As for the game, i'm going to go for a home win. Not because i am fooolish or Biast. but purely considering the facts.
Our Home Form: Chelski one of the best teams hasnt beaten us at home in time
Hammers Away Form: although they are doing well. ther away form to us recent has not been the best and they have something to prove.. will be pushing it too hard
Fans: west ham fans will be so mind tracked in boooing Marlon and NRC that they wont think about thier team
Speaking of Marlon and NRC: They have a point to prove and although MON will go on the attack as he insists i think these 2 chaps will be clinical not to fuck it up but to fuck them up
Our confidence: needs a boost. should have pissed on tottenham other night (through luck or not) but we didnt. i can pretty much guarantee that marlon (if he plays) will be so carefull not to repeat his spectacular fk up. andf also the team as a whole when they get the lead ( or catch up and regain the lead) will make damn sure they dont lose it.
Also west ham have a couple of big names but from what i have seen this year although only a couple of spots behind us they have not gelled.. dont get me wrong.. we havent either.. but there is something there between our lads and i feel saturday wil come good. despite the fact that a few of our games this season so far (spurs, l'pool etc) were sloppy losses fgor us considering that we outplayed them in the game ( bar l'pool but still unlucky to come away with nothing). whereas west ham have barely outplayed or spanked any team and i think the only team they do that too this year willl be DERBY...
but sayign that and considering every team so far has pretty much smashed derby.. we will probs just scrape past. as is with the carling cup and as much as mon denies it.. We overestimate ourselves at the minute ( not really a bad thing) but we also underestimate the apponents.

Harewood to score (at the correct end) to shut the whingers up. Villa to win 3-0.
im fed up of people getting on harewoods back, saying there going to boo him and making harewood out posters. weve got to get behind every villa player no matter what they do on the pitch accidently anyway. harewood isnt the best player in the world i know that but we need to give im time to settle in and give him some confidence so he can get his form from 2 years ago back!
i reckon its going to be a good game but villa will come on top! after the 2 dissapointing results. we will grind out the result.
villa 2-0 west ham
gabby and young to score
Can see this being a draw with a couple of goals for either side. As a West Ham fan I just hope Reo-Coker doesn't stick the ball in the back of the net, though it won't surprise me if he does. He will be up for the game and probably more so than our central midfielders - probably Parker and Noble.
Given time, Marlon will bring you goals but maybe not as clinical as 2 seasons ago when he was superb.
I'm saying 2-2 and Bellamy to be sent off for a bad challenge on Nigel (it will up his reputation with the Hammers fans!)
2-1 Villa.
Looking forward to it. Televised?
just thought id post something for you west ham boys on here about your history and how thanks to us your claret and blue
Like every West Ham supporter, I love to know about our past and how we became the Mighty Hammers
A fantastic story about Charlie Dove and his dad Bill Dove, and how we beacame Claret and Blue.
Charlie Dove was an important part of the Thames team that won successive London League and Southern League Division Two titles, and had a connection with the club adopting claret and blue as their colours. Charlie had got the kits for the club at a very cheap price of £3.10s. They had come from his father William Dove, who was a professional sprinter of national repute, as well as being one of the coaches at Thames Ironworks. During the summer of 1899, Bill Dove had been at a fair in Birmingham, close to Villa Park, the home ground of Aston Villa. The scrawny looking Dove had been challenged to a race against four Villa players, who wagered money that one of them would win. Bill Dove defeated them, and when they were unable to pay the bet one of the Villa players, who was responsible for washing the teamâ€s kit, offered a complete sideâ€s â€uniforms†to Dove in payment of the bet. The Aston Villa player subsequently reported to his club that the kit was â€missingâ€.
Charlie Dove would continue to be a major player for Thames Ironworks, and itâ€s later incarnation of West Ham United until his controversial transfer in 1901 to arch-rivals Millwall F.C.. In 1902 Dove unfortunately suffered an injury which ended his playing career.

UP THE VILLA!!!!!!!! ;)
1-0 up at the moment but i havent seen how the lads have been playing since i just watched the rugby.
Harewood isnt even on the bench, i think this is the right decision even though it is his former club he had abit of a stinker against Spurs and Maloney should definatly be on the bench.
We are doing well at the moment hope it continues.
