Match Prediction: Wigan

Wednesday, 19 October 05, 01:48 PM · Comments (0)

Every season there is a team that comes up to the Premiership and does well until about November. Reality then kicks in and they start not to do so well.

This year it is Wigan. The problem Aston Villa have is we're playing them while they are still on a high and I'm not predicting three points this weekend even after the long awaited and expected win last weekend.

Wigan are currently on 16 points and sitting in 6th place and they travel to Villa Park this weekend after beating Newcastle 1-0 last Saturday at home.

Travelling away to play a team that has only won once at home and has conceded as many goals as they have scored won't sound very frightening to Paul Jewell and his men, neither should it based on the performances so far this season.

Villa are coming into this game on the back of that win at St Andrews last Sunday and confidence should be high but I'm going to scupper all that and predict a 2-2 draw.

I'd love to see a victory but I'm more interested in good tactically aware football and I've still not seen that, even against Blues last weekend so I see no reason for it to suddenly change.
