Milner, Smiler McCann and Sutton

Wednesday, 01 November 06, 11:57 AM · Comments (2)

Not wanting to waste your time today I'm putting everything into one post as I'm trying to get out of here so I can go eat some lunch and maybe have a beer or two.

The almost once a month rumour that is James Milner raised it's head again today. This time it's ?4mn. in January. Like I've said before I'd like James Milner but I think we can get better. Still, if he wants to come and he wants to play I'd have him as he's still young and has bags of potential.

Smiler to his mates

Martin O'Neill is also hoping for good news ahead of Blackburn this Sunday on the fitness of Smiler McCann. Smiler will hopefully train today and the manager was optimistic.

He told the official site "McCann has become a very, very important and influential player for us. If you're striving to try and improve the squad, then not to miss one individual as much as we've missed McCann is the point in question. Looking at the squad, there's nobody else who does what he does for the team."

You'll know that my views on the midfielder have changed since Martin O'Neill arrived and I must agree, he has become a key man in the centre of midfield.

Hot on the heels of the news breaking the other day that the manager attempted to land Teddy Sheringham earlier in the season there is also a story on the official site today about Chris Sutton.

Sutton arrived a few weeks ago and after seeing his little pass for Gabby at the weekend against Liverpool I'm happy he did. If he can do one of those whenever he plays and we've got a striker like Gabby that knows how to put them away I'll be happy.

O'Neill is also happy having Sutton although he's yet to comment on the Sheringham story from yesterday.

Big match this weekend and hopefully a full house. The Randylution is in effect.

mccann and petrov have had a great season when together and without mccann you see that petrov is missing him
with mccann in the middle it makes playing five in the midfield a better alternative

I was never a big fan of McCann either (I referred to him as "McCan't") but it is undeniable that he has risen to the task-thanks Martin! What a difference a good manager makes.
